Viewable throughout the fall and winter, this location is among the best in the world for viewing the northern lights. Nothing can rival the experience of watching the aurora borealis. Awash in vibrant colors, these northern lights dance across the sky to speak to the moon in mystical voices.
Travel to the last frontier of northern Canada, where your adventure will begin with a flightseeing charter ski-plane or floatplane flight from Yellowknife to this secluded wilderness lodge. Let your senses come alive. You'll revel in natural surroundings and inhale the cleansing fragrance of spruce. You will feast your eyes on the northern vista in all its glory at this stunning location in the NWT.
Aurora watchers and stargazers agree there are few better places to see the Aurora than from this lodge. From mid-August, when night skies turn a velvety black to mid-October when the lake begins to freeze, guests can be treated to late night shows of the northern lights. On calm nights, the lake also reflects the sky, doubling the awe-inspiring images. Autumn is a great time to sit outside in comfort and just lean back and enjoy the show. Day activities during this time of year include fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and hiking.
In the winter, the adventure continues, and the lodge is open over Christmas and New Year. The lodge itself is welcoming atop a rolling, snow-covered hill. Inside the main lodge or in one of our cabins, a cozy wood fire offers warm comfort. Throughout the day, follow well-marked trails on skis, snowshoes, or by snowmobile. Relax with your favorite beverage in the early evening before sitting down to a gourmet dinner prepared by our Red Seal chef. Later, on clear nights, the Aurora may dance overhead.

Enjoy the northern lights from one of our decks, our hot tub, or snuggled under a duvet in your room. The lodge even offers Aurora Wake Up Service to catch the Northern lights at their best.
This lodge is fly in only – there are no other camps or cabins within many miles – you are in the true wilderness with no light obstructions to hinder your view of the aurora. The main lodge was designed with aurora viewing in mind. All bedrooms offer prime viewing, as do the dining lounge areas, Aurora room, decks, sauna deck, and hot tub. Come experience the northern lights playing directly over the Lodge in awesome multicolored displays. You'll have an exclusive, front-row seat for nature's own light show after dark.
This lodge lies below the Auroral oval, the enormous band of energy that circles the North Magnetic Pole. Here, you are as close to the Aurora as any earthbound spectator ever gets. If the weather is clear, chances are good that you'll see the Aurora on almost any night between mid-August and mid-April.
Daily interpretive tours of 2-hour duration are included in the price. Guides are available for an additional cost for snowmobile tours, even for overnight winter camping adventures in the wilderness, please inquire.

There are five large guest rooms on the second floor of the main lodge, with access to shared showers and washrooms (no private washrooms in the rooms). Lodge rooms are dressed with down duvets and feature huge windows with expansive views. There are two viewing decks upstairs and an outdoor hot tub. The main floor serves as the lounge, with a bar, dining room and library. The main floor also houses the kitchen and a small office, and his and hers showers and washrooms, shared with cabin guests. Unusually for such a remote facility, our washrooms not only have hot running water but also hotel-style toilets; you would hardly know they are the eco-friendly composting kind!
There are five log guest cabins to choose from - separated for privacy. Each has its own lake view, outside campfire pit and outdoor toilet close by. They all have electric lighting and power and feature a minimum of four beds with down duvets. Showers and bathrooms are a five-minute walk to the lodge. All cabins are heated by a wood stove. For those who like the easy life, but with the coziness of real fire, two of our cabins now have pellet stoves that make no demands on fire-lighting skills!
Some cabins have a private ensuite toilet facility and other cabins have access to the shared Aurora Comfort Station which is a heated toilet facility and wash basin with a skylight.
The lodge and all cabins enjoy free wireless internet access. They are all non-smoking.
This lodge prides itself on its environmentally sensitive footprint. There are solar panels, wireless Internet, two high-efficiency wood-burning stoves and a remarkable waterless composting toilet system called a Clivus Multrum.
