Single track wilderness mountain biking tours in the Chilcotin Mountains of BC

Pedal through true wilderness on these multi-day single-track wilderness mountain bike tours in the Chilcotin Mountains of British Columbia.

Mountain biking through the South Chilcotin Mountains is on a whole other level. Few wild places are home to such diverse terrain and stunningly beautiful environments. Whether you’re an advanced mountain biker in search of a challenge or a novice looking for a beginner-friendly mountain bike riding experience, there’s an adventure suited to your speed in this pristine wilderness.

The South Chilcotin Mountain Park is home to some of the best mountain biking in British Columbia. With stunningly beautiful trails and a variety of terrain to test your skills, this wilderness was made for mountain biking.

Each of these all inclusive vacations includes a wilderness guide, who will give you an insider’s tour of the South Chilcotin Mountains. Explore trails and remote backcountry sites that most mountain biking visitors never get to experience. Our guides can even point out special landmarks as you continue mountain bike riding through the park, like historical miner’s cabins and prehistoric seabeds strewn with fossils. If you love wildlife, our guides will take you to the meadows and alpine regions where we’ve seen the most animal activity throughout the years.

Mountain biking is more fun when you’re free to invest all of your energy in fully enjoying the wilderness around you, instead of lugging around a heavy pack. That’s why we transport all of your gear to and from each campsite. We’re actually the only guiding service in the park that provides the service of pack-horse supported mountain bike riding. And while this sounds like an odd combination for mountain biking, it’s an approach that complements our commitment to providing an environmentally responsible way for visitors to enjoy the best mountain biking this territory has to offer.

GUIDE INFORMATION

The ranch has an outstanding calibre of licensed guides.  They come from varied backgrounds and their expertise is matched to each trip.  You will be impressed with their abilities to communicate with guests from every walk of life and level of outdoor skill.  Most important, they know how to judge situations, and assess and determine the abilities and limits of the guests.  Every trip must be educational, safe and enjoyable.

RESTRICTIONS

Trips available for beginners to advanced riders.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Requirements: Mountain bikes, bike helmet, cycling gear and footwear, medication for allergies, day pack, water bottle, towel, face cloth, warm sleeping bag good to 10 below Celsius, flashlight, extra batteries, biodegradable soap/shampoo, bike repair kit, empty pillow case (camp based only).

5% Wilderness Stewardship Contribution Surcharge applies to all tours.

TRANSPORTATION

Trips originate and end at the ranch, near Gold Bridge, BC.  During the summer season take Highway 99 from Vancouver to Whistler and then Pemberton. Take the Hurley Pass Forestry Road to the ranch. Full directions provided upon reservation.

Van transfer from Vancouver to the ranch can be added for additional cost.

WEATHER

This 5,000 square km guide territory lies within a transition zone between the Coast Mountains and the Chilcotin Plateau.  This favoured position produces a "rainshadow".  This means sunny skies and a dry bug-free environment.

REGION
Vancouver, Whistler, and Chilcotin
PROVIDED EQUIPMENT

Use of ancillary equipment and use of ranch facilities.

SUGGESTED CLOTHING

Hiking boots, 1 set of warm clothes, warm jacket (down or wool), personal toiletries and clothing, toque or headband (camp based only), warm socks, rain gear, 2 pairs of gloves, one for biking and one insulated. You should bring at least two complete changes of clothes in case you get wet.  If the weather turns bad, the toque is for night during camp based adventures and the headband is for daytime.

SUGGESTED ITEMS

Camera, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen, binoculars.

ACCOMMODATIONS

On the ranch based tours accommodations are a choice of either comfortable rooms or chalets with ensuite bathrooms at the ranch, with a varied combination of sleeping arrangements (ie. queen, twin, bunk) all with feather duvets.  The ranch is spacious, complete with two story fireplace, sun room, large central dining room.

On the backcountry camp tours the many different camps offer something for everyone. Whether you're interested in getting just a "taste" of the wilderness camping experience and would like to have some of the camp luxuries, such as a warm-water shower or a cabin to sleep in, or whether you want to have a true backcountry, camping, "roughing it" experience, we have it all and everything in-between.

Some of the camps are equipped with cookhouses, cabins with sleeping areas in the loft, and 10x12' tent cabins (tents with a permanent wooden structure and raised, wooden flooring, foamies to sleep on, and wood-burning heater) to sleep in, while other camps only have the tent cabins but no cabins or cookhouses, and other camps offer a true "camping" experience with 10x12' wall tents on the ground set up in the alpine meadows.
