GUIDE INFORMATION

Guided daytrips are included in the lodge stay at no extra charge. Popular activities include:

- Sightseeing trips by motorboat to the Frances River, the Tyers Delta or the scenic Frances Lake East Arm, which boasts a rambling shoreline, countless bays and hidden ponds.
- After careful instruction and safety training, exploration of the romantic bays and picturesque islands around the lodge by canoe or kayak.
- Excursions to the abandoned trading post of the famousHudson's Bay Company.
- Learning about flora and fauna on guided walks and hikes.
- Walking our lovingly built nature-interpretive trail around the lodge peninsula.
- Constant opportunities for wildlife observation, with beavers, otters, bald eagles, loons,squirrels, hares, porcupines, moose, caribou and sometimes even bears, wolves and lynx often seen in the area.
- Very good angling for northern pike, lake trout and arctic grayling.
- Photographing scenic landscapes, beautiful, frequently changing skyscapes, animals in the wild, flowers and other little miracles of nature.

When planning the guided daytrips, your guides always consider the wishes and abilities of the guests. Of course you can also spend the day by yourself, using our canoes, kayaks, angling gear, sauna, library, games, nature-interpretive trail and various hiking trails. Or simply relax!

TRANSPORTATION

Trips begin and end at the Frances Lake boat ramp on the Campbell Highway, about 2 hours north of Watson Lake, Yukon.  Boat transfers between the boat ramp and the lodge are included.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The lodge consists of the main log cabin and five lovingly-crafted log guest cabins.  Guest cabins strike the perfect balance between rustic pleasures and modern comforts: wood stoves and kerosene lamps provide heat and light the old-fashioned way, yet each cabin is equipped with portable flush toilets and comfortable beds with fresh linen and warm quilts.

All guest cabins afford beautiful lake views and are within easy walking distance of the main lodge.  Guests are welcome anytime to peruse the many northern books in the library or simply relax in the bright, cozy living room.  Guests also have access to hot showers and a four-person sauna located in a separate log building.

All meals included.  Meals are served in the main lodg where the local chef will gladly prepare your catch for dinner.  The lodge is licensed and alcoholic beverages are available.

Morning starts with a rich breakfast: home-baked bread, cereals, fruits and a variety of warm dishes. If lunch is taken at the lodge it will be a light meal (e.g. soups, dips, etc.) and if we're away on daytrips we'll have a nice picnic on the shore.

For dinner, enjoy a tasty three-course menu with salad, main course and dessert. Each night we serve diverse offerings of international cuisine, enriched with a variety of fresh local fare, including fish, wild berries, herbs and lettuce from the garden or the wild. Guests are certain to appreciate our home-cooked meals and the friendly atmosphere at the common dining table. Full board and various non-alcoholic beverages are all included in the price of your stay. Upon advance notification, we gladly consider special dietary restrictions (e.g. vegetarian) or food allergies.
