White water rafting on the Upper Red Deer River in Alberta

Experience some of the best whitewater rafting in Alberta on the scenic Upper Red Deer River in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  Raft with the people that pioneered white water rafting on these waters 40 years ago.  Your experienced guides will take you through some of the best rapids in Alberta.  This region in the front ranges of the southern Rocky Mountains combines true wilderness with raging white water.  You can raft for a half day or stay overnight for a full adventure experience. The camp is fully equipped with sleeping cabins and meal service.

The riverside camp offers rustic and comfortable accommodations where you will feel right at home. This is a Class 3+ river so it is the perfect introduction to whitewater rafting and suitable for anyone 6 years and older.  You will challenge many rapids in this thrilling ride as you travel down the raging water.  Everyone is required to paddle but your guide will do all the steering allowing for a safe but exciting ride. At the end of the trip return to the base camp for a delicious bbq meals and an overnight in the cabins.

For families with younger kids there is a Family Trip available. Begin your adventure at our camp where we will suit you up and get you ready to get out on the river. You will depart right from our riverside location and enjoy some incredible scenery and whitewater action that is safe enough for the whole family to enjoy. Our driver will pick you up and after a quick shuttle and snack you will get back in the river just above Nationals - an exciting finish to a great day. Your trip will finish back at camp. (Best suited for children 6 and older)

Raft & Ride

Want to experience the Alberta Foothills from two unique perspectives? Start your trip with two hours on horseback with a trail ride that gives you a true backcountry perspective of this beautiful area. This trek takes you both through the forest and riverside splendour and allows you to imagine what it must have been like for settlers first discovering these places years ago. Then take it up a notch as you hit the river for a rafting adventure! The river takes us through areas that can be seen no other way, while providing lots of excitement along the same time! Your river trip can be tailored to fit the age and experience levels of your group.

Raft & Reel

Whether you prefer a spin rod or a fly rod, Eagle Lake offers a beautiful place to take in the Mountain views while trying your luck with the fish. After a short hike in, you are greeted with an incredibly rewarding view and a hidden gem of this area. We provide a guide and a lunch, the fish are up to you! Fishing licenses are required and are the responsibility of the patron. Now that you’ve witnessed the serenity of mountain lakes, take time to explore the adventure the river provides! We will design a rafting trip to fit your particular group's needs.

Whitewater Canoeing ‚Äč

Want to get up close and personal with the river and all she has to offer? Try whitewater canoeing with us. Being in a smaller boat brings you closer to the rapids, increasing the excitement you'll experience. We guarantee you will get wet on this one! Our guide will take you down the river in one of our inflatable canoes - a great way to introduce yourself to a whole new level of excitement.

Whitewater Rafting

Experienced and certified your guides have many years of rafting experience on this river.


Minimum age of 6 years old.

This facility provides a true disconnection from our modern, technology driven society. Because there is no cell service there will be no interruptions from your cell phone or work email. The camp does have land-line phone service.

No alcohol is permitted before or during the rafting but you are welcome to bring your own for the evenings.


Requirements: If staying overnight bring sleeping bag, pillow and flashlight and personal items.


Trips originate and end on the upper Red Deer River southwest of Sundre, Alberta.  Map provided at time of booking. The camp is nestled by the Upper Red Deer River on seven acres of land  in the beautiful foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Only one and a half hours from Calgary and three hours from Edmonton, they are your ideal whitewater adventure destination.


Summer temperatures average between 15-30 degrees Celsius.

Southern Rocky Mountains

Wetsuits, booties, helmets, lifejackets, raft and equipment, all safety equipment.


Warm clothing suited to a variety of weather conditions, hat, rain gear, swimsuit, towel, sneakers, hiking boots, dry clothing for after the rafting, fleece pull over.


Waterproof camera, daypack, sunscreen, sunglasses, insect repellent, water bottle.



Overnight accommodations in rustic cabins  are available. The camp provides a rustic cabin experience for guests who choose an overnight package. There is also a limited amount of camping space available for tents and trailers.

The cookhouse is the perfect environment for group and family meals, campfires and memory making. The accommodations vary between double occupancy A-frame cabins with two single beds, a bunkhouse style duplex with deck that can sleep nine, and a family style cabin with a loft for the kids. Inside the un-powered cabins you will find a basic wooden bed frames and sheet covered mattresses. There are a number of outhouses on site, along with a wash station on site. 



Half day tours can include a picnic lunch. Full day tours can include lunch or lunch and dinner. And the overnight packages include lunch, bbq dinner and breakfast the next morning.
