Lake of the Woods is a myriad of islands, bays, and structure. There is a lot of water to explore, and the variety of fish is second to none.
Muskie action on Lake of the Woods is second to none. Lake of the Woods holds the largest concentration of both numbers and size of Muskie. And you’ll be glad to know, it’s not a fish of 10,000 casts on this lake. The lodge has recorded releases to 57 1/2" long. They must be 54" long to be a legal catch. This assures both good numbers and large fish in the lake.
Great Northern Pike fishing awaits at this lodge, with the average being in the 5-10 lb. range. True trophies, both taken and released up to 37 lbs. Fish need both the water and forage to become big. They also need the longer growing seasons - a norm on Lake on the Woods. The further north you go, the shorter the growing season. If you are looking for consistent Northern Pike fishing, and a great probability of catching that trophy then this is the place.
More and more anglers are discovering that Lake of the Woods is a great place to fish for walleye. A solid 5-pound walleye is so common on Lake of the Woods these days that even a cooler full wouldn’t get a second look. This is true world class walleye fishing.
There is also outstanding bass fishing at Lake of the Woods. Islands, shallow rocky shorelines, weedy back bays and hundreds of reefs are what make the fishing great for bass. Smallmouth run in the 2-5 lb. range, with bass caught up to 7 lbs. very close to the lodge. The largemouth bass fishing just keeps getting better as well, ranging from 2-5 lbs. The largest caught this year was 7.9 lbs.
