Paddle to spectacular waterfalls on this kayaking adventure to Denison Falls on Lake Superior. 

If you want to combine sea kayaking along some of the most remote sections of Lake Superior's north shore with an overland trek to the awe-inspiring, 40-metre-high Denison Falls - this is the trip for you!
 
The trip designed for Novice - Intermediate paddlers begins with a group training session based from our Rock Island base on Lake Superior. We'll paddle west 25 km to the mouth of the Dog River where we hike to spectacular 100-foot-high Denison Falls and the newly created Nimoosh Provincial Park.
 
This trip is all-inclusive with discounts for people wishing to bring their own suitably outfitted sea kayak or pack/prepare their own meals.

GUIDE INFORMATION

Professional instruction and trained guides that are knowledgeable of the local history, geology and ecology of the area.

RESTRICTIONS

Minimum age of 16.  This trip is designed for novice through to intermediate paddlers. While no previous sea kayaking experience is required, your enjoyment will be enhanced if you are in good physical condition and comfortable with backcountry camping. Average paddling speed of 3.5 km/hr. The trip involves 55 km of sea kayaking and 6 km of hiking.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Requirements: Personal gear, sleeping bag and a sense of adventure.

Although each group will travel according to its own pace, we tend to spend most of the day on the water leaving lots of time for covering the distance and exploring. 

TRANSPORTATION

The seven-acre peninsula on Lake Superior at the mouth of the Michipicoten River is located about eight kilometres south of Wawa and 230 kilometres north of Sault Ste. Marie.

WEATHER

The lake is mostly calm in summer, but when it gets rough we enjoy the view from shore, so experience paddling in surf and swells is not necessary.

Four-season dome tents; foamie sleeping pads; group safety, camping, cooking, eating and sanitation gear; shuttles; dry bags; fully outfitted expedition sea kayaks; farmer John/Jane wetsuits and paddling jackets.

SUGGESTED CLOTHING

Clothing for a variety of summer weather conditions. Warm coat, gloves, hat, water shoes, hiking boots, sweaters, wool socks, long pants, towel, bathing suit.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Five nights of camping in tent camps along the route.  Stay the night before or after your trip at our Rock Island Lodge. Reduced rates available.

Don't worry about cooking or clean-up - all food preparation is taken care of by our wilderness chefs! Dinner on Sunday evening and all meals from Monday to the following Friday afternoon are included.

Pricing does not include: 13.00% HST.

A 20% deposit is required to hold your reservation.

Balance of payment is due 30 days before trip commencement.
CANCELLATION POLICY & DETAILS
For cancellations made more than 60 days before the program start date, we offer a full refund less a $45 administration fee. Cancellations made 30 to 60 days before the program start date will receive a full refund less the deposit. Cancellations made with 14 to 30 days notice will receive a 50% refund. And cancellations made with less than 14 days notice will not receive a refund. If you are able to find a suitable replacement, we will refund all but a $45 administration fee.
