GUIDE INFORMATION

All adventure activities are guided by professionals and include kayaking, hiking, boat tours, wilderness tours and cultural experiences. All staff and guides follow the basic principle of exceeding your expectations. Certain activities such as guided saltwater fishing and helicopter tours are not included in the price but can be added to the package.

RESTRICTIONS

Because of the space in the helicopters is limited, we encourage everyone to limit their baggage to no more than two pieces, no square suitcases please, and the weight should not exceed 25lbs. To help you keep to this limit, please note that the lodge does supply all adventure gear other than that which is listed in your itinerary and that formal or semi-formal attire is not a requirement.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Gratuities, massage, fishing licenses, helicopter tours, saltwater fishing, taxes and specialty beverages are not included in the price of the trip.

The resort is also available for exclusive use and is perfect for corporate retreats.

This retreat takes great pride in being a low impact and environmentally sustainable operation.  Water is a key element at Nimmo Bay.  The snow pack on Mount Stevens supplies the resort with water for drinking, power, and domestic requirements. The resort’s guest accommodations, operational quarters and staff buildings are built on the water, along the forest edge, on a rocky promontory. Its presence has not impacted the surrounding forest or disturbed any of the wildlife habitat.  Great care has been taken in developing the resort and its policies, from waste management to catch and release fishing.  Visitors are happy to see that it operates in sync with the natural environment.

TRANSPORTATION

Trips originate and end in Port Hardy on the north end of Vancouver Island. Round trip transportation between Port Hardy and the lodge is included in the price.

WEATHER

British Columbia's coastal climate is one of magnificent extremes. Temperatures range from 45-100 degrees Fahtrenheit (5-35 degrees Celsius) from mid-April to mid-October. Guests may swim in Nimmo Bay from June to September.

Comfortable pants, shorts, shoes, shirts, sweater, warm jacket, long johns, swimsuit, and personal toiletries are all that's needed. A laundry service is available for emergencies.

ACCOMMODATIONS

There are 6 inter-tidal chalets and 3 stream-side chalets. Each inter-tidal chalet has two bedrooms with queen beds in each. The stream-side chalets also have two bedrooms, with one queen and two twins. All chalets have a full bathroom that includes shower and bath tub and a comfortable lounge/living area set in a panorama of pristine wilderness only British Columbia can provide.

The floating Main Lodge is where meals and beverages are served. This structure is highlighted inside with pine and cedar finishings, custom walnut dining tables, supple leather couches, a fine array of musical instruments, and artwork, which is for sale, featuring local artists.  In the billiard room there is a 5x10 snooker/billiard table, satellite TV, and digital sound system.

Two outdoor cedar hot tubs located under a cascading waterfall (which has its beginnings at the top of Mt. Stephens) are the perfect place to end your adventurous day. Probably the most spectacular piece of equipment is the outdoor rainforest shower, complete with hot and cold water. There is also a gift shop on site with clothing, unique local products, and fishing gear.

MEALS & DINING

MEALS & DINING

Tour prices include gourmet picnic lunches, fresh coastal breakfasts and dinners in the family style dining room and all house alcohol.

The culinary experience at this resort has been described by some as "Almost Biblical" and by others as "Bombastic". The breakfasts are worth waking up for and our evening meals are highlighted with fresh, local seafood. Our bread, pastries and ice creams are made in our own bakery. Special dietary needs can be easily accommodated. Make sure you specify these at the time of booking.  This lodge is blessed with the purest, sweetest, softest drinking water available, and can be consumed from any tap. Sometimes it's more popular than wine.  Included are beer and wine in your chalet's mini fridge, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, and beer on tap in the billiard room.  Other alcoholic drinks, specialty wines and beers available at additional cost.
