Participate in a team building event based on the popular television series, The Amazing Race. This program is for those teams who excel under pressure and know how to make quick decisions. Teams of four to six will race through Elora in an Amazing Race style event and navigate through urban and wilderness challenges. Not all team members need to complete all the challenges so teams with mixed strengths can really shine. Highly competitive teams really enjoy this race because only one team emerges as the winner. This is an ideal program for teams where only some of the team members need to complete the high intensity challenges and who enjoy a little friendly competition.
This program may include any of the following station descriptions:
Approximately sixteen clues are scattered across Elora. The clues will lead the teams through urban and wilderness areas. Some clues have pictures while others are only words and open to interpretation. Some clues are obvious while others are more cryptic.
A roadblock is a challenge that only some of the team (usually two people) need to complete. There are approximately three roadblocks in each race.
The food challenge is one of the roadblocks. Many people often wonder if the food challenge may be too difficult to stomach. To give participants an idea of the challenge level, below is a list of food we have used in some past races: uncooked tofu, dried anchovies, chicken feet, thousand year old egg, and dried squid.
A detour is a choice between two or more alternatives. One may be easy and far away or difficult but close-by. The team members can decide which task best suits their team.
Teams will need to navigate through the urban and wilderness areas to find clues that lead them to their final pit stop. Teams will need to ask local people and use maps. The race may also include the use of a compass.
There are small and medium sized caves at the bottom of the gorge where participants will complete a short scavenger hunt to locate various checkpoints.
This challenge is a roadblock. The chosen team members rappel down a 60-foot cliff with the coaching and safety rope of an instructor. There are two rappels set-up so teams can pass each other.
This challenge is a roadblock. The chosen team members climb a 40-foot cable ladder (helicopter ladder) with the coaching and safety rope of an instructor. There are two ladder climbs set-up so teams can pass each other.
This challenge is a roadblock. The chosen team members zip 200 feet across the gorge to complete a task. Many teams choose to upgrade to include the exciting zipline. This is one of the unique features of Elora and this element makes the day even more special and memorable. It is highly recommended to include the zipline.
