Canoeing adventures into Algonquin Provincial Park

Paddle the many lakes and waterways that make up Algonqin Park on this canoeing and camping adventure. Few things are more Canadian than a canoe trip through the thick boreal forests of the Canadian Shield.  Algonquin Provincial Park, located just 3 hours from Toronto, covers 7,000 square kilometers of prime wilderness. The park is known for its famous waterways and abundant wildlife and these canoe adventures allow you to access some of the remote regions of this park.  This trip offers incredible opportunities to see and photograph moose, listen to wolves howl and learn about other wildlife.

As Ontario's oldest provincial park, Algonquin offers a superb wilderness experience.  Since 1893 it has been Canada's favourite canoe trip destination and world renowned for its scenery and abundant wildlife.  Trips move at a relaxing pace through a diversity of lakes and slow moving sections of river.  There is lots of time along the route for wildlife viewing, hiking, swimming and backcountry exploration.  These trips feature camping accommodations, delicious meals, professional guiding and are suitable for all ages.

This Algonquin park guided canoe trip is a great canoe trip for any level of paddler. Learn and/or refresh paddle and portage skills along the way. Don't worry about experience. Guides teach all the skills along the way! Most important, this canoe trip is a true vacation.

Day 1

Optional 7:45am pick up in downtown Toronto or 12:30pm rendezvous at the canoe outpost situated at Algonquin Park's northwest corner. After an orientation, brief lesson and lunch, canoe across the lake and into Algonquin Park. Along the way learn how to paddle, portage and swim in the clean freshwater. Set up camp on a scenic point covered in Red Pine and enjoy your first meal and campfire. Lying in your tent, nod off to the sound of the west wind whistling high above.

Day 2

After a tasty breakfast, break camp and paddle east through a series of classic Algonquin Park lakes. A floating lunch gives you the energy to paddle up a bog where you have a great opportunity to see beavers, great blue herons and moose. The final stop is at a beautiful lake where you have the afternoon to hike, swim, and fish or take a siesta! Enjoy fresh baked bannock cooked over the fire and listen to legends and myths of travelling through the Canadian wilderness.

Day 3

The distinctive smell of fresh coffee and bacon frying gets you out of our sleeping bags and up for breakfast. After packing, head out for a hike through mixed maple forest learning about the unique mix of flora and fauna. Option to learn to solo a canoe and to navigate as you paddle back to the take out, stopping along the way for a large smorgasbord lunch. Return to the canoe outpost around 3pm. The shuttle arrives back in Toronto at 7pm.
