Experience some of the best lake trout and northern pike fishing in the world from this lodge in the Northwest Territories. This fly-in fishing lodge is located 15 minutes by floatplane north of Yellowknife between Duncan and Graham lakes in the Northwest Territories of Canada. In the summer, the focus is fishing and the fishing here is simply spectacular. There is not a lot of fishing pressure and there are no other lodges on these lakes. Catch and release is encouraged, but a meal of small fish at a shore lunch is always popular.
Northern pike and lake trout make up the majority of the quarry, but there are also opportunities for arctic grayling and whitefish. The northern pike grow large here and 48-50+ fish have been caught and released in Duncan Lake. In the early season you will find the largest pike cruising the shallow bays. This is prime time to target them and they readily take floating or shallow running lures and flies. There is nothing quite like sight fishing for large northern pike in clear shallow water. There are many shallow bays on both lakes as well as inlet streams that offer perfect habitat for large northerns.
The lake trout fishing is also great along the steep drops and boulder strewn bottoms throughout the season. The biggest lakers will be deeper in mid summer, but adding weight to deep running lures, spoons or crankbaits while trolling will pay off. Also drifting and jigging over ledges or humps will produce savage strikes from trout and this is no time for daydreaming.
This all inclusive lodge offers comfortable accommodations, good quality meals and an opportunity to fish at your own pace. Stay out as long as you like. The avid angler will want to plan their trip in the early summer when you can fish close to 24 hour a day during the midnight sun.
