Canoe, hike and whitewater raft on this multi-activity adventure in Wells Gray Park, BC

This whitewater rafting package is the only multi-sport adventure to combine wilderness rafting, canoeing, and hiking in BC or Canada! Professional guides accompany you as you canoe across the pristine waters of Mahood Lake in Wells Gray Park. Camp along the sandy shores and enjoy delicious food and unparalleled ambiance. Savour gourmet local Canadian Cuisine cooked over an open fire. Once we reach the far end of the Lake, it’s time to ditch the canoes and head out on foot towards the Clearwater River.

On the way you’ll travel along the remote Mahood river where you’ll encounter stunning vistas of Sylvia and Goodwyn falls. We are always keeping our eyes open to view Native pictographs that exist along canyon walls in the Mahood valley, dating back as far as 3000 years. By the end of the day you have reached your destination ”The Mighty Clearwater” and the start of your whitewater rafting adventure. This river is the culmination of an incredible concentration of waterfalls, rapids and chutes, probably the greatest in British Columbia. For the next two days surrounded by towering canyon walls, spectacular waterfalls you’ll experience some of the finest wilderness rafting the west has to offer.

There is no other whitewater rafting tour like this available in British Columbia. This trip was chosen by the Canadian Tourism Commission to be a part of their “Canadian Signature Experiences Collection”® as one of their once in a lifetime travel experiences in Canada.

GUIDE INFORMATION

This trip hires only the most experienced guides available who love making their living off the river because they are simply “TRUE RIVER PEOPLE”. They have an in house guide-training program that is second to none in this industry. They are firm believers in safety kayakers and catarafts, and you will quite often see several of them buzzing around the boats if water levels warrant it. They look for the most qualified guides from across Canada and around the world.

They have sound emergency procedures in place and practice them regularly. All trips have good communication with our base camp and shuttle bus in the form of two-way radios, cell phones, or satellite phones.

At the end of each day there is ample opportunity to hike and explore the area. Stunning vistas can be had by simply climbing the hills behind camp-the higher you go the better the view. Sit around the campfire after dinner each night and share stories or just look up at the incredible collection of stars in the Chilcotin sky.
