Follow the route of these early explorers and experience nature at tis most pristine. A great trip for inexperienced wilderness kayak campers or a peaceful trip for the experienced. Time for rest and relaxation transporting you back in time and away from life’s daily challenges.

Trips integrate energetic paddling with floating, short hikes, rest stops and sightseeing into your daily routine. Lots of campfire camaraderie or time to read, do photography or hike on your own as you wish.

Let the spectacular scenery, fur trade history, and cameraderie of this classic Peace River adventure unfold from the seat of a canoe or kayak. Your 5 day river escape will leave you feeling like you had a 5 week holiday. The longest of our guided adventures, it provides lots of opportunity for hiking, photography, and gourmet campfires! GUIDE INFORMATION

All guides are experienced paddlers and certified in Canoe and Kayak instruction and Swift Water Rescue and all have extensive knowledge of the river. 

RESTRICTIONS

This trip is suitable for paddlers of any level including beginners. 

Minimum 3 people required for the trip run.

Cell phone service in the Peace River Valley is sporadic. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Requirements: Sleeping bag rated for 0 C or colder and sleeping pad, pillow, large dry bags for clothing and bedding (can be rented).

 

TRANSPORTATION

The base lodge is approximately 520 km northwest of Edmonton or 190 km from Grande Prairie, near the town of Fairview, Alberta.

Transportation to and from the town of Peace River is included.

Packages from Edmonton and Calgary with flights included can be arranged.

Prepare for a range of temperatures during the some from 8-30 C.

PROVIDED EQUIPMENT

All gear for camping and kayaking except sleeping bags. Satellite phones are available for emergencies.

SUGGESTED CLOTHING

Clothing suitable for temperatures varying from 8C to 30C. All personal items must fit in one medium and one small dry bag and should include shorts, long pants, warm fleece, and bathing suit. Rain gear, waterproof sandals or water shoes, hiking shoes or runners, paddling gloves.

SUGGESTED ITEMS

Camera, binoculars, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle, insect repellent, fishing gear, fishing license, small dry bags fpr personal effects. 

ACCOMMODATIONS

While on the kayak trip accommodations are in wall tents along the river.

2 nights accommodations before and after the trip at the base lodge are included.

High quality meals, snacks and beverages are included and prepared by your guide while on the kayak trip. Breakfasts included during the stay at the base lodge.

6 day tour, available July - August

Day 0

Pre Day Arrive at the location near Peace River, overnight in cabin/wall tent accommodation. Shuttle from Peace River included.

Day 1

Travel to launch, orientation and overnight camping Cotillion.

Day 2

Pack up camp and set out on the river! This part of the paddle includes spectacular scenery and natural phenomena. Camp Many Islands.

Day 3

Wake to the sound of birds. Full day of paddling. Camp Pratts Landing.

Day 4

Half day scenic paddle to memorable Dunvegan Provincial Historical Site. Time to visit the interpretive centre or visit the market gardens and gift shop. Then back on the river to our wilderness camping destination.

Day 5

Full paddling day. Enjoy a hot shower and rejoin civilization! Stay on site in a cabin or wall tent.

Day 6

Post Day Travel back to destination. Shuttle to Peace River included if required.
