Grizzly bear viewing cruises along the coast of Vancouver Island

Travel aboard a high speed covered vessel to view grizzly bears and other wildlife off Vancouver Island. This is the historic home of the Homalco First Nation, one of the Coast Salish Tribes and the pristine river valley is home to 40 resident Grizzly bears. Upon arrival you will be greeted by the Homalco aboriginal guides.  You then travel along the Orford River Valley by mini bus to the security of specially designed Grizzly bear viewing platforms, situated along the river in various locations for maximum grizzly bear viewing.  You’ll have the opportunity to witness the ancient autumn ritual of grizzly bears feasting on spawning salmon in the Canada’s true wilderness.

Three hours are spent in the river valley at various bear viewing platforms. The bear viewing platforms offer security so you can fully enjoy this glimpse into the lives of these great bears in their natural habitat. This magnificent river offers panoramic views.

Here you will observe a beautiful rainforest area and its fierce residents, the grizzly bear, fattening up on salmon in preparation for the long winter. The Aboriginal Guides are licensed and trained to carry firearms in order to ensure guest safety and protection. Your specially trained bear viewing guides take every precaution, allowing you to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. On this journey you may also observe killer whales, dolphins, eagles and other wildlife in their natural environment.
