Fly-fish for steelhead, trout and salmon at this remote river fishing lodge near Vancouver Island

Fly-fish for steelhead, trout and salmon at this remote river fishing lodge off the coast of Vancouver Island . This fishing lodge is unique, both in its location and in the service it provides.  Nestled in a tiny cove next to an uninhabited island, this floating lodge is positioned to take advantage of world class freshwater fishing opportunities. Both large and small stream fishing for steelhead, trout and in mid to late summer, coho salmon are all available from the lodge.  You can fly fish the myriad of small streams, raft the classified waters of the legendary Wakeman River or spin fish for sea run cutthroat in the saltchucks, all within 10-50 minutes from the lodge.  Fly-in fishing via floatplane or helicopter are also available. The lodge's small size assures guests receive personal service in comfortable accommodations.  The food is fantastic and the scenery and nature-watching are extraordinary.

Your British Columbia fly-fishing trip will be full of variety. Our fishing spots are located from a 10-50 minute boat ride from the lodge. Some of these locations require short to moderate hikes, so guests should have the appropriate physical mobility necessary to reach these locations. This lodge is one of only two lodges authorized to fish the spectacularly beautiful and legendary Wakeman River.

In addition to fishing, eco-guests choose to concentrate on the other delights of the area known as the Broughton Archipelago.  This area is a natural paradise bounded by the mountains of Vancouver Island to the west and the Coast Range to the east.  Blackfish Sound and Johnstone Strait are home to one of the largest resident populations of orca whales.  Bear, deer, eagles, porpoises, seals, Minke whales, a variety of birdlife and many other delights await the avid nature watcher.  The lodge also offers interesting cultural diversions. Guests can also view rock paintings, old villages, native woodcarvers and other fascinating glimpses of the area's long and rich native culture.

GUIDE INFORMATION

Guiding fees are included in the package. There are water and fishing opportunities to satisfy every skill level. Experienced anglers will appreciate the variety and challenges of the different streams and waters that we fish. They are very pleased to provide fly tying and casting instruction to first-timers or beginning anglers. They have taught many a guest who had never touched a fly rod before. They will teach casting basics and have you (if you wish) tie a fly or two. Then you’ll go out on the water. More often than not, you’ll land your first fly-caught fish.
