The Northern Rocky Mountain region is a jewel of the Rocky Mountain range. The town of Jasper in Jasper National Park is the hub of the area and offers a wide variety of adventure activities, shops, restaurants and accommodations. Sometimes over shadowed by nearby Banff National Park, Jasper offers all the beautiful scenery of the Rockies but with smaller crowds and a more intimate setting.
Activities in the northern Rocky Mountains include fishing, white water rafting, horseback riding, wildlife watching, hiking and some of the best skiing anywhere in the world.
Jasper National Park, Mount Robson Provincial Park and the Willmore Wilderness Provincial Park combine to make up a wilderness area like no other. The mountain town of Grande Cache in Alberta is the gateway to Willmore and is well known for its annual adventure race and being home to some of the best white water rafting in Alberta. The town of Valemount in British Columbia has year round adventures, with the winter being especially busy with alpine snowmobilers. You can stay at luxurious mountain resorts, hotels, guest ranches or camp out under the stars. A scenic train ride from Vancouver to Jasper is not to be missed. Whatever you choose to do, the Northern Rocky Mountains will meet all your adventure expectations.
