The northern Yukon is a land of mystery, ancient cultures, Klondike history and spectacular northern scenery. The gold rush made the northern Yukon famous over 100 years ago and today much of that history remains in towns such as Dawson City. Fantastic paddling trips on remote rivers are offered here by experienced guides whose knowledge of the area is eagerly shared. Ivvavik National Park, home to the Firth River, offers one of the most exciting and remote rafting expeditions in the world. Tombstone Territorial Park is a popular destination for hikers and is known for its black granite peaks and subarctic tundra landscapes.

Though extremely remote, amazingly much of this region is accessible by road through the Dempster Highway. Built in the 1960’s and 70’s, the Dempster Highway is the only road in Canada to cross the Arctic Circle. It begins near Dawson City and travels through the northern region of the Yukon, ending in Inuvik in the Northwest Territories. Bus tours up this highway are available and a great way to explore the region.
