Your jet boat tour begins when you meet our experienced guide at the welcoming Drumbó River Base at Drumboddsstaðir. You get the gear you need, a quick safety briefing, and you are ready to roar down the glacial Hvítá River, hurtling through the majestic and ruggedly raw vistas of Gullfoss Canyon. When the throttle opens out, all of your senses are sure to come alive, tingling with excitement, like white water rapids boil and froth beneath the boat, and vast looming cliffs soar before you. Unexpectedly, you will discover peaceful delta areas too, there are many bird habitats around the river, giving you the chance to get to know the local birdlife. Some incredible rock formations show up in the cliffs of the canyon, shaped over many years by the raging flow of the glacial river. Hvítá means ‘White River’ in English, its mighty source is the meltwater pouring from Langjökull, the second biggest ice cap in Iceland, in summer the flow rate increases markedly, making for an incredibly exciting ride!
