Out of all things to do in Iceland, the Golden Circle tour is one of the all-time favorites. Together with the glacier snowmobiling ride, this combination of sightseeing and small-group adventure will surpass all your expectations!
Thingvellir National Park
We’ll start off in Reykjavik and drive through the serene southern countryside. The first stop is a protected national gem - Thingvellir National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is of great historical and national value. It was here in 930 c.e. that Vikings founded the world’s oldest parliament - the Althing. You can explore the area at will, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are drifting apart at a rate of about 2 cm each year!
Geysir Geothermal Area
Next up is the active Geysir geothermal area with bubbling mud pots, pillars of steam and gushing geysers. The famous Great Geysir is dormant today, but there are other geysers that put up stunning shows. You’ll see how Strokkur bursts up every 4-10 minutes, spouting boiling water into the air. Just prepare your camera and watch for the eruption!
A few miles from the geysers is the giant Gullfoss Waterfall. You’ll hear the roaring echo of the falls even before seeing its tumbling glacial waters. Marvel at the wild waterfall from the top of the cliffs or walk along the path to get a look from up close. Gullfoss is fed by the Hvita River, whose waters originate from Langjokull Glacier and then travel miles across the country before it eventually cascades down 32 meters across the two-tiered cliff.
Snowmobiling on Langjokull Glacier
After your visit to Gullfoss, we’ll finish our tour with an adrenaline rush with a 1-hour snowmobile ride on Langjokull Glacier! We’ll kit you out with everything you need before our expert guide briefs you on the safety instructions and shows you how to operate the snowmobile. After that, zip up your suit and press down on the gas as we zoom across the 580m-deep ice! Langjökull is a vast frozen wilderness that hides many treasures - our journey across it will gradually unveil these natural wonders, including towering snow-capped mountains and ominous volcanoes.
To make this trip memorable and easy-going, our equipment is always the best possible. We currently have 40 snowmobiles available on Langjökull – Lynx Adventures 600 CC and Polaris IQ LXT 550 CC.
After an hour of roaring along the ivory ice, we’ll head back to the base before starting our drive back to Reykjavik.

Our highlight was definitely the snowmobiled but the whole day just worked like clockwork. The guide gave interesting facts and I felt we had enough time at every stop. A really organised, fun day. Thanks

We spent a long time researching all the various tour operators ahead of our visit to Iceland and decided to go with Arctic Adventures based on the packages, reviews and vehicles that they use. We were in no way disappointed. Pick up happened within the given timings an the vehicle was as described- a super truck- an awesome looking vehicle which can accommodate about 16 people. Small group tours were preferable for us as it feels less hassle. Our guide was polite, knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. We never felt rushed at the various destinations. The icing on the cake was the snow mobiling on a glacier which was an awesome experience. I can highly recommend Arctic Adventures.

We had an amazing day on the Golden Circle and snowmobile tour. We were picked up in a super jeep and taken to the main sights on the Golden Circle route. They were all incredible. We went on a closed road and drove in some prettydeep snow up to the glacier for the snowmobiles. This was an adventure in it’s self! The snowmobile ride was brilliant fun. Our guide Marcnus(?) was friendly, informative and a fantastic driver in what was sometimes difficult conditions. A thoroughly enjoyable day from start to finish and well worth the extra money!
