You’ll begin at the iconic Golden Circle, taking in breathtaking waterfalls, gushing geysers, and historic Thingvellir National Park. Then continue along the South Coast, stopping at notable waterfalls and bizarre geological formations.

You then veer east to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Skaftafell National Park. Find yourself surrounded by the largest glaciers in Europe! The journey north then takes you to the otherworldly landmarks of North Iceland: Lake Myvatn, volcano craters, and lava fields. Stop for a whale watching tour in Dalvik or continue on through West Iceland until you arrive back in Reykjavik.

Your 6-day adventure is underway as soon as you arrive at Keflavik International Airport. Grab your rental car from the airport or the BSI Bus Terminal and set out on your journey. You’ll head straight to The Golden Circle, Iceland’s most iconic touring route. Get ready to soak in incredible views at Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall. We’ll also make time for a couple of hidden gems on the route. Stop at Faxi Waterfall, a gushing blue cascade. Then visit Friðheimar Greenhouse for a taste of the freshest tomatoes you’ve ever tried. Spend the night at your hotel in the Golden Circle / Hvolsvöllur Area.

Wind your way through Iceland’s South Coast on Day 2. Make stops at each of the exquisite waterfalls along the way. Next, you’ll explore the mesmerizing landscapes that surround the village of Vik. Marvel at Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, the Klaustur Church Floor, and the Dverghamrar Cliffs. Crash for the night at your hotel in the Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.

We hope you’re well-rested because you have a lot of driving ahead of you today! On day 3 you’ll explore the highlights of Vatnajokull National Park, the largest national park in Europe. In the Skaftafell Nature Area, you’ll take in stunning sights of Lómagnúpur Mountain and Svartifoss Waterfall (“the black falls”). Then head down to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, a vast lake of glacial water that glimmers with icebergs. You’ll spend the last part of the day in the rustic villages of East Iceland. Stop by scenic Stokksnesviti Lighthouse on your way to Djúpivogur town and Egilsstaðir, where you’ll spend the night.

On Day 4, you’ll pass into the otherworldly landscapes of Northeast Iceland. From Egilsstaðir, head north along the East Coast towards the Lake Myvatn Area. The change in landscape is unmistakable as you enter the barren lands around Myvatn. The day ends in Akureyri, the capital of the North.
