Practical Information

Time: Approx. 6-7 hours with breaks. We are returning to Bergen city center between 3-4:30 pm.

Level: Medium / hard, suitable for experienced hikers.

Terrain: Rocky and can be muddy and wet.

Elevation: 643 metres – 300 metres.

Kilometers: 14 km (if you take the cable car up/funicular down) / 17 km.

  • Don’t forget that the weather changes quickly, proper clothes and shoes are important. The walk takes you up to an elevation hundreds of meters above the city center, where it is normally quite a lot colder than in the center. We don’t follow a road, but a trail the whole way. The terrain is undulating, but it is not heavy-going. There are some steep sections, but no exposed parts. The path can be wet and muddy. When we arrive at our destination, Mt Fløyen, you can walk or take the Fløibanen funicular back down to the city center.

  • This walk is a must to be able to call yourself a ‘Bergenser’ or Bergen patriot. We guarantee you a lovely and safe walk in good company and, not least, high spirits!

  • Important: Note that this is a hard hiking tour.

  • 14 kilometers is a good distance, so you need to be in good shape, and have hiking experience from mixed terrain to do the walk. If you’re in doubt, get in touch with us.

  • If you are in doubt about whether you can complete this trip with a profit, we recommend that you book the trip On Top of Bergen which gives the same view of the mountains and the sea.
