The Swedish Lapland is one of the most untouched wilderness areas in all of Europe. The remote arctic region is home to forests, mountains, rivers, and archipelagos, which cover a quarter of the country. An abundance of reindeer and moose live in these wintry forests. These animals are found mostly in the northernmost regions of Scandanavian countries. In fact, Sweden has the densest moose population in the world. We often encounter them on the trail so keep your camera ready.

However, for your excursion you will be following smaller fluffier animals  huskies! An age-old tradition, your guide will introduce you to the ins and outs of dog sledding. Enjoy the crisp morning air as you travel through the winter wonderland of the Torne River Valley and through pine forests. Dog sledding is the perfect way to experience nature and wildlife without disturbing it. Halfway through our adventure, we will stop to make a bonfire where we will indulge in some coffee, tea, and cake.

The morning weather on the Lapland typically offers the perfect conditions for scenic photography so you will be able to capture your wonderful memories!

Pick-Up: We offer pick-up from all hotels within 20 km (12 mi.) of Kiruna and Jukkasjärvi. Please be ready outside the front entrance of your hotel at least 10 minutes before the beginning of your trip. If you are staying in Abisko or Björkliden pick-up is not available from your hotel, but we offer the option to meet you outside of Scandic Ferrum Hotel in central Kiruna. If this is the case make sure you select Scandic as your hotel when booking.

*We offer the option for direct pick-up from Kiruna Airport by selecting our Airport Pick-Up by the Sled Dog Trip.

Return: Morning tours end at 11:30 a.m. after which you will be provided with transfer back to your hotel.

Dog sledding tours are set up to fit passengers of all ages, fitness levels, and experience levels. Some excursions offer "drive-your-own-team trips,” but the option to ride as a passenger is always available.
