Challenge yourself and make incredible memories in the remote Sarek National Park wilderness as you summit Sweden’s most beautiful mountain – Mount Skierfe. This 6-day hiking adventure will take you through the last untouched corners of Europe’s natural landscapes.
On this 6-day hiking trip, you will first discover Lake Laidaure and proceed to Aktse, a tiny, old mountain settlement. You will then take on Mount Skierfe with its bare sides and steep ledge. From the top you will witness unmatched sights of the river delta landscape. After all, the area is unanimously considered to be one of the most beautiful in Sweden!
Throughout your hike, you will stop to refill your water supply from streams and natural springs. Each evening, fellow adventurers and your guide will share some fascinating stories by the fire. You'll return home with incredible stories and if you pack your camera you can share your amazing pictures too.

After breakfast, a minibus will take us* to Sitoälven Bridge, which is where our hike starts. We divide the food we need to carry among ourselves and proceed to hike an easy 10 km (6.2 mi) on a bike path. When we reach the eastern shore of Lake Laidaure, we will begin to look for a nice camping spot, set up our tents and enjoy our dinner.
*If you arrive with your own vehicle, you can choose to follow the minibus instead.

First things first, we eat breakfast – keeping up our energy levels while on a long hike is very important! Afterward, we pack up and take off for the first stretch of today’s distance. After 6 km (3.7 mi) on a marked trail through a spruce forest we reach Aktse, an old homestead, where we have our lunch.
We will need all of the fuel we can get because a fairly steep climb – 300 m (985 ft) ascent in just over 1 km (0.6 mi) of hiking distance – up a bare mountain is ahead. We will try to set up our tents above the tree line, but this may change depending on the weather conditions.
As we summit Skierfe, jaw-dropping vistas will open up before our eyes. Expect to glimpse a massive river delta with wild animals grazing nearby, surrounding snow-capped mountains and lush valleys. You’ll take away memories and pictures that will last a lifetime.
Unfortunately, it is time to turn back. But the views on the way back are no less impressive! We will return to Aktse on the same route we used coming in or we may change it up a little. It all depends on what the weather allows. Water availability a...)

It all depends on what the weather allows. Water availability and wind will determine the location of our campsite, as we pitch our tents, cook dinner and prepare for our last night in the wilderness.

One final campsite breakfast and we take off for the last stretch of our hike. This hike will be a breeze because all the food will be gone and our bags will be significantly lighter. When we return to our starting point, Sitoälven Bridge, we will load our belongings into the minibus and return to Jokkmokk guesthouse. We’ll share our most memorable experiences and photos over a home-cooked dinner and enjoy some well-deserved rest in a comfy bed.

Please note: We are at the mercy of Mother Nature, so we have the right to adjust the itinerary if we think the weather conditions present safety risks. Summitting Mount Skierfe would still remain the ultimate goal of the trip.
