Just a short train ride from Vilnius city center lies the pristine Pavilniai Regional Park. The scenic landscapes of the park were formed during the last ice age, including the geologically significant Pūčkoriai Exposure. This impressive 65-meter rock exposure opens up to the Vilnia River Valley and is one of the many stunning formations you'll encounter.
Inhabited since the Stone Age, the park also holds historical significance for Lithuanian history. At the base of the park's Pūčkoriai Mound are settlement remains from the Common Era that were once used for defense purposes. Our tour will take us past these old settlements as well as remnants of a 16th-century cannon foundry featuring old gunpowder mills.
Pavilniai Regional Park features numerous trails. However, our tour takes you along the popular 5 km Pūčkoriai Cognitive Trail. Our approximate walking time will be 4 hours covering 10 km. We will begin our hike from the historic Belmontas restaurant, which is located at a former mill. Along the way, your guide will treat you to fun and interesting facts about the park and area.
To end your hike, you will be served a delicious Lithuanian BBQ at a fun forest grill camp. If you are interested you can even try your hand at some grilling with the locals. There’s nothing like a good meal to top off an exciting day of hiking!
