This guided 10-hour day trip from Reykjavík combines sightseeing, relaxation, and authentic Icelandic experiences—perfect for travelers who want to see the best of the country in one adventure-filled day.
Your journey begins with pickup from designated locations around Reykjavík. Once everyone is on board, the drive takes you through the Icelandic countryside toward the Golden Circle, where each stop reveals another layer of the island’s extraordinary beauty.
The first destination is Þingvellir National Park, one of Iceland’s three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Þingvellir is not only geologically fascinating but also deeply symbolic in Icelandic culture as the birthplace of the nation’s first parliament over a thousand years ago. Here, you can walk between the towering cliffs of the Álmannagjá gorge, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart a few centimeters each year. The contrast of rugged rock walls, tranquil lakes, and open plains makes this stop truly remarkable.
Next, you’ll head to the Geysir Geothermal Area, home to Iceland’s most famous hot springs. The ground bubbles and hisses all around as Strokkur, the area’s active geyser, erupts every few minutes, sending scalding water up to 20 meters into the air. Nearby, the dormant Great Geysir still lends its name to geothermal eruptions around the world—a reminder of Iceland’s raw volcanic power.
The adventure continues to Gullfoss Waterfall, the “Golden Falls.” This mighty two-tier cascade is fed by meltwater from Langjökull Glacier and thunders into a deep canyon below. During the spring melt, the river’s flow can reach up to 2,000 cubic meters per second, creating an incredible spectacle of mist and roar. On clear days, you might even catch a glimpse of the glacier that feeds this awe-inspiring waterfall.
After exploring these iconic sites, it’s time to unwind at Laugarás Lagoon, a brand-new geothermal spa that promises to be one of Iceland’s most exciting new attractions. Set on the banks of the Hvítá River in peaceful countryside surroundings, the lagoon features warm mineral-rich waters averaging 37°C, complemented by a refreshing cold plunge, two saunas, and a distinctive cascading waterfall feature. Guests can also enjoy a drink from the swim-up bar while taking in the beautiful rural views.
In Laugarás Lagoon, you’ll choose between the following entrance tickets:
Birki Entrance ticket – The base entrance ticket grants access to all pools, etc. Towels and drinks are not included.
Lerki entrance ticket – Includes towel rental and a free drink at the swim-up in-lagoon bar.
At the end of the day, sit back and enjoy the scenic return drive to Reykjavík, where you’ll be dropped off at the same central location from which you were collected.
