Hiking through the Stuðlagil, you'll see Iceland's most impressive rock formations. The turquoise-colored river framed by the columnar basalt rocks is what determines this place. After taking an incredible and easy hike through this canyon, we will relax in Vök Baths, which offers amazing facilities for relaxation.
Our tour will start with driving to Rjúkandi waterfall in Jökuldalur, with a short and easy walk to the waterfall.
We will continue to the Stuðlagil, one of Iceland's most beautiful and significant columnar basalt rock formations. This place has a highly photogenic scenery, especially when the river water is clear. At the beginning of August, when there's an overflow at Hálslón by Kárahnjúkar, the water changes its color from turquoise to greyish.
After a half-hour easy hike, we will stop by to have some snacks and admire nature. We will spend about 2-3 hours in Stuðlagil in total.
After admiring Stuðlagil and its spectacular views, we'll go straight to Vök Baths. Vök offers excellent facilities for relaxation, including Iceland's floating infinity pools, a large pool, a spray tunnel, a tea bar, and a Vök Bistro restaurant with a view over the lake. The menu in this restaurant is based on local ingredients. One of the specialties of Vök Baths is a herbal drink made with Icelandic herbs. It is brewed directly from Lake Urriðavatn's waters and is Iceland's only certified hot drinking water. Towels can be rented at Vök Baths.
This is a combination of two separate tours. If one of the tours is cancelled, you will still be able to join the other part.
