This unique tour allows you to see the majestic glacier from the bird’s eye. The helicopter route goes over the wonderful Skeiðarárjökull glacier until it reaches a secret ice cave. Explore the ice cave with an experienced glacier guide. Being inside the cave and gazing at its vivid colors and patterns will feel like an out-of-this-world experience!
Upon your arrival at the Skaftafell Terminal, we will be ready to greet you at the reception. Your pilot and experienced glacier guide will go over the flight route and introduce you to safety measures before heading out on the helicopter.
Then, we will embark on a thrilling helicopter flight over the majestic glacier. You'll be able to see it from above before stepping a foot on it! We'll take in the view until we reach our destination - Skeiðarárjökull glacier, which is part of Europe's biggest glacier Vatnajökull.
After landing, we will embark on a short walk to the secret glacier ice cave. The cave opening leads into the glacier tunnel, big enough that you can easily fit standing up. Your glacier guide will take you further into the ice corridor. You'll notice the sparkling sapphire blue colors and vivid shapes and patterns carved into the ice cave walls. The sense of serenity and adventure of being inside the glacier is indescribable. Once your ice cave expedition is over, the helicopter will bring you back to the Skaftafell Terminal.
