Join us for a full day of breathtaking sights and relaxing practices! Starting from Reykjavik, we will head to Thingvellir National Park first, then Gullfoss Waterfall, and we’ll finish the Golden Circle route with a visit to the Geysir Hot Springs. On the way back, your guide will take you to Kerid, known as the "Eye of the World." The last stop will be at the Sky Lagoon, where a 7-step wellness ritual will be waiting for you.
This year-round adventure is a perfect combo of beautiful scenery, fascinating history, relaxation, and plenty of photo opportunities. Read more about the itinerary and attractions below.
Right after the morning pick-up, you’ll enjoy a comfortable 45-minute drive through the picturesque Icelandic countryside. Our first stop is the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, home to the world's oldest parliament assembly. As soon as we reach it, you’ll notice the distinctive steep cliffs and deep ravines that look like some invisible forces scrunched the terrain with a giant hand. This results from the area lying in the zone where two continents, Eurasian and North American, move apart. You will see the real evidence of it as we walk in the Rift Valley, which increases by 2cm (0.8 in) annually!
The next destination will greet us with a thundering sound and misty spray from the water tumbling 102 feet (32 meters) down into the deep canyon. Gullfoss is one of the most unique falls in Iceland, fed by the glacial river Hvita. You'll get an up-close view of its two powerful cascades as we take a short walk from the lower to the upper viewing platform. While you take pictures, your guide will tell you some fascinating local stories and folk tales about this Golden Waterfall.
Next on the Golden Circle tour is the geothermal Hakadalur Valley. You’ll see the columns of steam rising right from the ground. It’s the fumaroles that emit gases through the holes in the Earth’s surface. As we explore the area, you’ll notice more unique features like bubbling mud pots, hot springs, and erupting geysers. The most active geyser you’ll see is Strokkur. It releases fountains of hot water every 4-10 minutes, and they can reach up to 65.6 feet (20 meters)! The neighboring geyser, Geysir, is one of the oldest in the world. It was the first one to be described in a printed source.
On the way back to Reykjavík, we’ll visit another unique site - the volcanic Crater Lake Kerid. It was formed 6,500 years ago by the collapse of a volcano. The caldera is about 560 ft (170 m) wide and 180 ft (55 m) deep, with the blue groundwater lake inside. The most striking feature of Kerid is its vivid color palette. The walls are tinted bright red by the minerals in the volcanic rock. Together with a green moss and an aquamarine color of the water, this combination looks like an eye of the earth itself.
On return to the capital, you will be welcomed into the Sky Lagoon Spa for a revitalising geothermal experience. This modern wellness center offers traditional Icelandic treatments along with stunning ocean views. Here, you will experience a rejuvenating 7-step Skjól ritual. It consists of a calming soak in the warm lagoon, followed by a cold plunge, sauna, and refreshing mist. It continues with a salt scrub, a steam room and ends with a warm shower. Such an experience provides the ultimate relaxation for your body and mind after an eventful day.
Pick-up starts at 08:00 from your accommodation or a nearby authorized meeting point in Reykjavik. It can take up to 30 minutes for everyone to be picked up. Your patience is appreciated.
