Itinerary

The tour begins when we all meet together in the idyllic town of Grundarfjörður, situated on the iconic Snæfellsnes Peninsula, where you will meet your expert guide, who will provide you with all the equipment that you need and give you a quick talk on the best paddling techniques. Then we will launch the kayaks and head out onto the fjord and enjoy some truly gorgeous natural scenery.

At the forefront of this incredible picture is the spectacular Kirkjufell Mountain which spirals up into the sky and is colored either white or emerald depending on the season. It will be especially recognizable to fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones series as it plays a starring role in the show: known as ‘Arrowhead Mountain’ it is located to the North of the wall and also appears in the scene where the white walkers are created. This along with the stunning waterfall which crashes over a cliff just beneath it has made it the most photographed mountain in all of Iceland, if not the world.

We will also see many other incredible things as we glide across the icy blue waters, including playful seals who swim close to the boats and the glorious birds that swoop overhead. Your friendly guide will tell you everything you need to know about the things that you are seeing, ensuring that you get the absolute most out of your time kayaking.

Yes, all of our kayaking tours are operated by experienced and certified professional 4-star BCU sea kayak guides.

You don’t need to be able ‘’swim’’ while kayaking, although we recommend that you can. People that can’t swim tend to panic when they are in the water. You must be comfortable with floating in the water.

We recommend a waterproof camera when going on a kayaking tour. However, we do not recommend you to take too much with you on the kayaking tour as there is really no need for it.
