Itinerary

Snaefellsjokull Glacier

Located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, the glacier is 1,446 meters (4,800 feet) above the sea level. Snæfellsjökull has been a prominent theme for authors and inspired renowned literature works such as “Christianity Under the Glacier” by the Nobel-Prize winning author Halldór Laxness and the famous “Journey to the Center of the Earth” by Jules Verne.

The glacier is an active volcano forming part of the Snæfellsjökull National Park, which was established on June 28, 2001. The park aims to protect and conserve its unique landscapes, ancient plants and wildlife as well as important historical relics. Many people believe that this mystic glacier is one of the seven main energy centers of the Earth.
