Prepare for two of Iceland's top winter activities! Departing from Reykjavik, we travel to the Langjökull glacier for a thrilling snowmobile ride. Then, as darkness covers the island, we begin our hunt for the best location to see the magical Northern Lights. This tour includes free photos of you and your loved ones under the Aurora so you can keep this special moment forever.
After a morning pick-up from Reykjavik, we’ll begin our scenic 2-hour drive to Langjökull glacier—the second-largest glacier in Iceland. We will change from the minibus to our specially modified Super Jeep that will take us to the glacier base camp. Here, you’ll receive all the necessary snowmobiling equipment, including a snowsuit, gloves, a balaclava, and a helmet. Your guide will show you how to safely operate a snowmobile, and we’ll start an exhilarating one-hour glacier ride.
As you race through the vast white landscape, you'll see the true face of the majestic Langjökull glacier. With snow spraying under your snowmobile, you'll pass through perfectly smooth terrain as well as a variety of rugged ice structures, cracks, and crevasses. In the distance, you’ll see Eiríksjökull glacier and Kerlingafjöll Mountain range.
After a full hour of glacial adventures, we’ll get back to Skjól Campground to warm up and regain our energy with a hearty lunch. You can bring a packed lunch from home or buy one at the Skjól Bistro. After a break, we’ll return to the capital for the second part of the tour.
As the evening draws near and the skies darken, we’ll jump into our minibus and hunt for the colorful Northern Lights. This phenomenon commonly occurs in Iceland, the world's sweet spot, where magnetic fields interact with solar flares to create a spectacle like no other.
Your guides, with years of experience, will determine the best spot for viewing the polar light dance, considering the weather and the Aurora activity. The serene beauty that is hard to rival will stay with you for a long time afterward. Enjoy a complimentary Icelandic chocolate treat with cocoa, and enjoy the show! Your guide will snap photos of you and the group to download later, free of charge.
We’ll finish the tour with an evening drive back to Reykjavik, dropping you off at your initial location.
