Itinerary

The coolest way to explore the natural beauty is to go on a super jeep tour. We will pick you up in Reykjavik before we drive through Hvalfjordur fjord on our way to the splendid Borgarfjordur. You will visit Europe’s most powerful hot spring Deildartunguhver, a myriad of cascading streams at Hraunfossar waterfall, Barnafossar waterfall that’s rich in folklore, and the well-preserved woodlands of Husafell. On the super jeep tour, you will roam through the untouched Icelandic wilderness in a powerful vehicle that will take you to experience the unique combination of attractions and adventures.

We will start the trip by picking you up at your accommodation in Reykjavik. Stepping inside our modified super jeep is completely amazing as the modified vehicle is comfortable and secure. Then we will head out to Hvalfjordur, the Whale Fjord, on your way to Borgarfjordur.

The first stop is Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. You will learn the amazing facts about the hot spring: from it is the hot water at 100°C  constantly running through the pipe at a rate of 180 liters per second, heating the neighboring towns. The steam rises up making the location quite a spectacle.

Then we will drive further inland to see two neighboring waterfalls, Hraunfossar and Barnafossar. Hraunfossar, aka Lava Waterfalls, is a beautiful cluster of streams coming out of lava fields and subarctic vegetation. It’s absolutely amazing to see. Barnafoss is named Children’s Waterfall due to its close ties to local folklore. One of the sagas said that there were two children living in the nearby house who have fallen into the steam, drowned and taken away by the river. Their mother had the stone bridge destroyed so other children will be safe, and that’s how Barnafoss waterfalls got the name.

Next up, we will travel through the woodlands of Husafell, where you will find waterfalls, glaciers, lava fields, and vegetation. We will also stop here for lunch.

After a nice lunch break, we will drive off the main road and get on the highland trail to Iceland’s second largest ice cap Langjokull Glacier. Our capable super jeep will demonstrate its power by traverse the challenging road condition while we sit inside and enjoy the excursion. The massive Langjokull glacier feeds to the beautiful Hvítá river that runs south before it plunges to the gorge at Gullfoss waterfall.

Then we will hit the road back to Reykjavik. If weather allows, we will drive towards the highest mountain road in Iceland that has a cool name of “cold valley” - Kaldidalur. The road will lead us to Thingvellir National Park, one of the most renowned areas in Iceland.

It’s also optional to add an entry to the amazing glacier tunnel to go into the glacier ice at Langjokull. The unimaginable beautiful icescapes you will see is mindblowing.

Very soon, we will head back to the capital. The Silver Circle of Iceland day tour is perfect for those who want to see Iceland off-the-beaten-road. It’s not as popular as the Golden Circle Route, but it’s equally beautiful and outstandingly unique. And the best thing about a super jeep tour in Iceland is that it’s comfortable, safe, and filled with joy and adventures.

*Please note that during winter months, we are operating with very limited daylight hours. This may result in some of the sites being visited in dusk or darkness, or skipped altogether. We will do our best to avoid this, but ask for your understanding should this happen. This tour can change depending on weather conditions, so this tour needs to be flexible. We are concerned about your safety.
