Itinerary

This tour will allow you to explore the natural wonders of Þórsmörk while riding a 4x4 Super Jeep through various unbridged glacial rivers! For most adventurous ones, there's a hiking option as well!

During our hike, we will take in the astonishing view over Þórsmörk, Mýrdalsjökull glacier, and the surrounding highlands. We'll hike up to the Gígjökull glacier to see the effects of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption with our own eyes!

We will take a few stops during our 8-kilometer hike. The path we'll take is sometimes uneven, and the route takes you uphill and downhill. The tour, however, is tailored to everyone's ability, and there will be an experienced guide to help you out. But even so, if you don't feel like hiking, it's entirely up to you!

Please Note

The meeting point for this day hiking tour is the Brú Base Camp located in Hvolsvöllur.
The entire hiking trail is about 8 km (optional).
It's possible to add pick-up & drop-off from Hvolsvöllur, Hella, Reykjavík, Selfoss, and Vík.
It's possible to add snowmobiling.
