Simple and Clean

Reviewed on August 15, 2021 by S8550IBkaris Review from Tripadvisor

We stayed here for 2 nights on our trip to Southern Iceland. We stayed in the main building which reminded me of college dorms - hallway of rooms and a small common area. The rooms were simple but very clean and comfortable. Worked great for our family of 5 because we could get a double and triple room. Sits right up against the mountains and there's a waterfall within walking distance. They serve breakfast at the hotel and there is a great restaurant in the nearby town for dinner. Highly recommend this delightful place.

Clean and Comfortable

We stayed here part of an Arctic Adventures 3 day tour. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had great wifi connections. The restaurant was fantastic for dinner with delicious food and great presentation They even had happy hour with surprisingly good red wine. One of the nights we saw the Northern lights in the back of the hotel and didnt even have to go anywhere. So convenient.

Comfortable room and good dinner

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a small group tour. Our room was in the main accommodation block and was comfortable and spacious but simply furnished. The menu in the dining room was good and the cod, Atlantic char, lamb fillet and lava chocolate cake were especially good. Breakfast was continental style and also good.

Near to explore Glaciers - foodwise very good

Strategic point to explore the region and to relax with excellent food in the evening. This place was a very good discovery. More used by groups, as under management of a travel organisation.
Very friendly staff, great breakfast, clean large rooms. Some bungalows have a very nice view.

No. The hotel does not provide kitchen facilities to our guests. However, we do have a restaurant on-site open between 18:00 and 21:00.

Hotel Geirland is a great place to hunt the Northern Lights as there isn’t much light pollution.

There are several sights in the area perfect for photo opportunities. Here are a few that we can recommend:

Stjórnarfoss is a scenic waterfall and a true hidden gem known only to the locals. Find the cascade on your way to Adventure Hotel Geirland, not far from road 203.

Skaftáreldahraun is a huge lava field from Laki eruption, which is believed to be one of the greatest lava flows in history. The lava field is just 5 minutes away from the hotel.

Kirkjugólf is an odd expanse of columnar basalt that once was mistaken for an old church floor. The site is located on the way to our hotel, close to road 203.

Dverghamrar (Dwarf Rocks), located 13 minutes away from the hotel, are a protected natural monument and one of the most remarkable rock formations in Iceland.

Systrastapi Rock is a photogenic steep rocky hill located just 11 minutes from the hotel.

Systrafoss Waterfall, located 7 minutes away from Hotel Geirland, is a beautiful double cascade. Nearby you’ll find a few short hikes in the gorgeous forested area where Iceland’s tallest trees grow.
