Itinerary

This is your chance to get off the beaten track when it comes to diving in Iceland. Try two of these lesser-known but spectacular dive sites:

  • Garður - with over 40 species of seaweed, schools of fish, and sea pinnacles inhabited by a variety of creatures, this dive site is a paradise for any marine life lover (see map).

  • Davíðsgjá (David's Rift) - the sibling of the world-famous Silfra Rift, Davíðsgjá offers incredible 100-meter underwater visibility and the occasional trout (see map).

  • Bjarnagjá - saltwater and fresh groundwater meet in this tectonic gorge. Dive near an old crab breeding ground and discover a shipwreck (see map).

  • Fisherman's Crack - located on the edge of Lake Þingvallavatn, you can see several canyons and marine life on this dive (see map).

  • Kleifarvatn - nestled among black sand beaches and imposing lava rocks, this lake has hot springs beneath it. Geothermal activity is guaranteed on this dive (see map).

Whichever dive sites you choose, you are sure to marvel at the underwater wonders hidden there. Our professional guides will ensure the highest level of safety and hot chocolate afterward.

Please check our Diving Handbook for more information about the tour.

Pick-up from Reykjavik will be at 8:30 am from one of our pick-up points in Reykjavik.

Should you choose to meet locally, details will be provided closer to your booking date. You can expect to meet your guide at the agreed location at approximately 10:00 am.

You will then receive a safety briefing and familiarize yourself with your dive equipment.

The dive itself usually lasts between an hour and an hour and a half.

We celebrate the experience with hot chocolate and cookies. Afterward, you will log your dives, pack up, and return to Reykjavik, if you choose to drive back.

CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTS:

- Open Water Diver certification (or higher).

- Dry suit certification or a minimum of 10 logged dry suit dives.

- At least one logged dry suit dive in the last 2 years.

- Proof of certification or logbook (your guide will check the documents at the beginning of the tour).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

All divers must provide their height/weight at the time of booking so that we can bring you the appropriate equipment. For safety reasons, all divers must understand the instructions in English and be able to communicate with the dive guide in English. Please evaluate your physical health, if you have some medical issues please check health certificate and get physician approval if needed.

For more information about the tour, please visit our Diving Handbook.

Age limit: At least 18 years old

Weight limit: 50-120 kg

Height limit: 155-200 cm

We use neoprene dry suits of the highest quality. However, no dry suit in the world can guarantee 100% waterproofness unless it is custom-made for you. There is a small chance that water will penetrate the suit. Please bring a spare set of clothes and a towel, just in case.

Remember this is a physically demanding dive and you must be able to walk approximately 200m with your equipment.
