Itinerary

Sailing down the magnificent Hvítá River in an inflatable kayak is a remarkable way to get acquainted with Icelandic nature. Hvítá river originated from the second-largest glacier in Iceland, Langjökull. The name Hvítá, meaning "the White River," refers to its roaring white water, which you are sure to witness on this journey.

This river rafting tour is not for the faint-hearted. Once seated in a boat, you will encounter big, powerful waves. Therefore, this tour is only recommended for people in good physical health or ideally with previous experience in white water rafting.

We'll begin our adventure a few kilometers downstream from the famous Gullfoss waterfall and then travel for around 7 kilometers. Down this route, we will admire a beautiful view of the river that can only be seen from the boat. The first few kilometers of this journey are full of action - you'll be greeted by whitewater rapids. The last few kilometers will be more peaceful, and you'll be able to enjoy the fantastic view of the canyons. We'll also sail by the beautiful canyon called Brúarhlöður.

Is it safe to go by a kayak? Inflatable kayaks are designed so that they wouldn't fill up with water and are relatively easy to maneuver. Even so, there is a possibility that you'll accidentally flip your boat and have to face cold glacial waters. If that happens, our experienced guides will always be there to help you. Even if the water is cold, you don't have to be afraid - you will be provided wetsuits to keep you warm and a lifejacket to keep you afloat.

The Kayak River Ride is an experience you won't likely forget!

11:00 and 15:00. Please arrive at Drumbó 15 minutes before departure.

We recommend a waterproof camera when going on a kayaking tour. However, we do not recommend you to take too much with you on the kayaking tour as there is really no need for it.

You don’t need to be able ‘’swim’’ while kayaking, although we recommend that you can. People that can’t swim tend to panic when they are in the water. You must be comfortable with floating in the water.
