You will learn about the 13 Icelandic Santa Clauses and other folklore characters, such as Christmas Cat and children-eating mother troll Grýla. It is probably something you haven't heard before. Our friendly tour guides will make these stories engaging and appropriate for all age groups.
During this tour, we'll also explore Icelandic Christmas foods and drinks. You'll even get to sample some local delicacies along the way!
While taking a Christmas walking tour, you'll see the city's places often overlooked by tourists. You'll experience Reykjavik through a local's eyes during the most magical time of the year!
Our tour will begin at the meeting point in Fógetagarðurinn, and when we'll continue walking through downtown Reykjavik.
In the beginning, we'll admire the holiday decorations at the Christmas market at Ingólfur Square and the ice skating rank.
Afterward, we'll continue towards the famous Oslo Christmas Tree Austurvollur. On our way, we'll keep an eye out for Icelandic Santa Clauses – Yule Lads – hiding in the city center.
We'll stop by the bookstore to look at unique Icelandic Christmas books and talk more about Icelanders' love for books. You'll discover why Christmas Eve is a special day for all bookworms.
We'll continue onwards to the famous Reykjavik shopping street, Laugavegur. Here we will visit Litla Jólabúðin, 'The Little Christmas Shop', where Christmas is on all year round.
Finally, we'll walk the beautiful Skólavörðustígur and towards the iconic Hallgrímskirkja church, where we'll end our Christmas walk.
