Itinerary

Áróra (Aurora) is a one-of-a-kind Northern Lights experience that shows you the legendary Aurora Borealis in all of its majestic glory. It takes you across the length and breadth of Iceland – using art, science and innovative storytelling techniques to show you the Northern Lights as you have never seen them before.

Áróra transcends time and space, examining the Northern Lights scientifically, while also investigating some of the mysteries that still surround them and the many myths and legends that humans have associated with the Northern Lights over the centuries.

Áróra uses cutting edge 8k technology to bring you the Northern Lights in unbelievable detail – if you love the Northern Lights and want to understand their magic better, then this is the ideal tour for you!

The Arora show can be seen between 9-21:00.

Arora is located in one of Iceland’s most famous buildings – the Perlan Exhibition Center in Reykjavik. It stands on Reykjavik’s tallest hill and offers spectacular views over Reykjavik Bay, the city and the surrounding mountains. Perlan hosts a number of other exhibitions apart from Arora, including ‘The Wonders of Iceland’ and ‘Water in Icelandic Nature’, which could be added as optional extras to this tour.

There are a number of different ways to get to Arora.

  • If you have your own transport, then it will take around 5/10 minutes to drive there from the Reykjavík downtown area, and there is free parking for everyone.
  • It takes around 20-40 minutes to walk to Perlan from the Reykjavik downtown area.
  • You could catch public transport with the line 18 bus stopping near to Perlan.

Arora also has a number of other facilities for visitors to enjoy.

Út í Bláinn restaurant – located on the top floor of the building, it is worth a visit in and of itself, thanks to its stunning views. It serves a delicious fusion menu that is inspired by European and Icelandic cuisine.

Kaffitár café – a relaxed café that is also on the top floor – it serves authentic Icelandic beverages, ice cream, warm soup and much, much more.

Rammagerðin – A gift shop on the fourth floor – it is one of the oldest shops in Iceland and sells a variety of traditional items.
