Itinerary

The visit takes place at Laugarás Lagoon, one of the newest geothermal spa additions along the Golden Circle, a route known for sites such as Geysir, Gullfoss, and Þingvellir National Park. The lagoon was created as a modern interpretation of Iceland’s long-standing geothermal bathing tradition, focusing on warm water, open space, and a strong connection to nature.

Set above the Hvítá River, the two-story outdoor layout allows visitors to move freely between warm geothermal pools, a cold plunge pool, and multiple saunas while taking in views of South Iceland’s countryside. Distinct areas within the lagoon include an infinity-edge pool, a cascading waterfall feature, a forest pool in a more sheltered setting, and two swim-up bars.

For travelers who choose to extend their visit, dining is available at Ylja Restaurant, where a seasonal menu highlights ingredients sourced from Icelandic farms, fisheries, and greenhouses. Overall, the experience is designed as a flexible stop that can fit easily into a Golden Circle itinerary, whether as a short break or a longer visit combined with dining.
