Itinerary

Enjoy a relaxing visit to Earth Lagoon at your own pace. During your time here, you can soak in the open-air lagoon, enjoy the steam baths, hot tub, and cold tub, and take in the views of the Lake Mývatn area. If you would like an extra treat, you can also stop by the on-site café or swim-up bar to purchase refreshments.

The lagoon is filled with naturally heated, mineral-rich water that stays at a comfortable 36–40°C (97–104°F) year-round. It has a gravel-and-sand bottom and plenty of space so you can find the most comfortable spot. The geothermal water is naturally resistant to bacteria, so it stays clean without harsh chemicals.

In the steam baths, heat rises gently from the floor, creating a warm, soothing atmosphere. The temperature is usually around 45°C (113°F), with humidity around 100%.

The standard changing rooms are arranged in separate sections for added comfort and space, with private showers and personal lockers available before you enter the lagoon.

The Lava changing rooms are surrounded by natural lava-rock walls, with a lava divider between the men’s and women’s areas and a lava-lined passage leading into the lagoon. A towel is included, but private showers are not available.

This pass includes a private changing room for two, plus access to a relaxation room and a private lagoon area. Guests can also order food and wine from the lounge menu.

Please Note

Since Icelandic geothermal water contains sulfur, it is best to remove jewelry before entering and store it safely in your locker.

Additional Information

You can rent a swimsuit and towel on site if needed. Swimsuit rental costs 1,100 ISK and towel rental costs 1,200 ISK.

Guests can stay at the baths until 20 minutes before closing time.We always recommend booking in advance to secure a spot, and we can always change the time or date if needed.

All children are welcome. There is no entrance fee for children 5 years and younger.

Earth Lagoon (Mývatn Nature Baths) is situated right by Road no. 1, Iceland’s ring road. Driving clockwise, the facility is about 1 hour from Akureyri and 2 hours from Egilsstaðir.
