Treat yourself to a relaxing spa experience at Earth Lagoon in North Iceland. Located near Lake Mývatn, this geothermal bathing spot is an excellent place to pause, recharge, and enjoy the dramatic scenery of lava fields and mountains.
Earth Lagoon (formerly Mývatn Nature Baths) is famous for its soothing milky-blue water and peaceful atmosphere. Whether you are adding a wellness stop to your North Iceland adventure or simply looking for time to unwind, this experience offers a memorable break in one of Iceland’s most picturesque regions.
You can choose from three admission options: Earth Essential, Earth Signature, and Earth Exclusive.
Enjoy a relaxing visit to Earth Lagoon at your own pace. During your time here, you can soak in the open-air lagoon, enjoy the steam baths, hot tub, and cold tub, and take in the views of the Lake Mývatn area. If you would like an extra treat, you can also stop by the on-site café or swim-up bar to purchase refreshments.
The lagoon is filled with naturally heated, mineral-rich water that stays at a comfortable 36–40°C (97–104°F) year-round. It has a gravel-and-sand bottom and plenty of space so you can find the most comfortable spot. The geothermal water is naturally resistant to bacteria, so it stays clean without harsh chemicals.
In the steam baths, heat rises gently from the floor, creating a warm, soothing atmosphere. The temperature is usually around 45°C (113°F), with humidity around 100%.
You can choose between three admission options, depending on how you would like to experience Earth Lagoon.
Earth Essential
The standard changing rooms are arranged in separate sections for added comfort and space, with private showers and personal lockers available before you enter the lagoon.
Earth Signature
The Lava changing rooms are surrounded by natural lava-rock walls, with a lava divider between the men’s and women’s areas and a lava-lined passage leading into the lagoon. A towel is included, but private showers are not available.
Earth Exclusive
This pass includes a private changing room for two, plus access to a relaxation room and a private lagoon area. Guests can also order food and wine from the lounge menu.
Since Icelandic geothermal water contains sulfur, it is best to remove jewelry before entering and store it safely in your locker.
You can rent a swimsuit and towel on site if needed. Swimsuit rental costs 1,100 ISK and towel rental costs 1,200 ISK.
