This scenic and comfortable helicopter flight will take you above and over one of the most stunning places in Iceland – Askja Highland. There will also be a brief landing at Herdubreidarlindir, a runway built by NASA in the 1960s. It was used to transport supplies and equipment for Apollo astronauts training for the moon landing here. The geology of Icelandic highlands is as close to the moon's surface as it could get on Earth.
During this flight, you'll see hot springs, glaciers, and active volcanoes from the bird's eye! Trust us when we say it is an incredible sight to see!

During this helicopter tour, while flying towards the highlands, we’ll pass over the incredible Godafoss Waterfall, known as ‘The Waterfall of the Gods.’ Another must-see attraction is Mount Herdubreid, the queen of the highlands. This is where our trip above the Icelandic highlands begins.
Get ready to be left awestruck by the beauty of the Icelandic highlands as we approach the Askja Caldera, a blue volcanic crater filled with hot spring water. After admiring the hot springs of Askja from the bird’s eye, we’ll continue our journey over the glacier and head to Kverkfjöll, a mountain range formed of active volcanoes.
Returning to Akureyri, we’ll enjoy the view of Holuhraun, a recent lava field, and Odadahraun, a huge volcanic desert.
The tour will last for approximately 2 hours. It consists of a 70-90 minute guided helicopter flight and a 20-30 landing at Herdubreidarlindir.
