Itinerary

Grundarfjörður is a small but picturesque town located in Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It’s also the tour’s starting point where you’ll meet your guide and get to prepare for this unforgettable midnight kayaking experience. Once you hear all the instructions and are done with preparations, you’ll head out to the fjord.

The main attraction of this tour is Kirkjufell Mountain, at 463 meters high. Also called “Church Mountain,” it “changes” it's color according to the season: it stands perfectly white in winter and emerald green during summer. Kirkjufell is a must-see place for the fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones series as it was presented as “Arrowhead Mountain.”

Already recognized as one of the most photographed mountains in Iceland, it looks even more stunning with Kirkjufellsfoss Waterfall running over a cliff just underneath it, illuminated by the setting sun.

Spend these 3 hours admiring the scenic landscape, and beautiful weather, hear exciting stories from your guide about the fjord and take some spectacular shots that remind you of this fun trip.

Meeting point: Grundarfjordur

Duration of the tour: 3 hours (120 minutes spent kayaking)

We recommend a waterproof camera when going on a kayaking tour. However, we do not recommend you to take too much with you on the kayaking tour as there is really no need for it.

You don’t need to be able ‘’swim’’ while kayaking, although we recommend that you can. People that can’t swim tend to panic when they are in the water. You must be comfortable with floating in the water.
