Itinerary

Introduction

Our adventure begins when we all meet in the charming town of Grundarfjordur, situated on the iconic Snæfellsnes Peninsula. There you will meet up with your guide, who will give you all the equipment that you need and demonstrate the best ways to operate the kayak. Then, once everyone is ready, we will head out onto the fjord, and begin our journey towards Kirkjufell, surrounded by sublime natural scenery and majestic wildlife, like playful seals.

Once we arrive at Kirkjufell (the Church Mountain), you are sure to be impressed by the way it spirals into the dusk sky. In summer it is covered in luscious green grass, so it rises like an emerald pyramid an effect that is made more profound by the setting sun that paints the nearby fjord various shades of orange, lilac, and pink.

Kirkjufell will be especially familiar to fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones series as it is the ‘Arrowhead Mountain’ that is situated to the North of the Wall and regularly appears in episodes of the show. This coupled with its ephemeral beauty has made it the most photographed mountain in Iceland, if not the world.

A stunning waterfall lies in its shadow greatly enhancing the already breathtaking picture.
We also make various other stops at other places along the way and there is nothing quite like gliding across the calm glacial waters of the fjord as the midnight sunsets.

Our daytime kayaking tours are magnificent but seeing this exquisite place under the midnight sun is something truly special and will unquestionably remain with you for the rest of your life. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime experience, we promise that you won’t regret booking with us!
