Itinerary

On this magical tour, you will spend the day kayaking through the stunning Breiðafjöður bay in the West of Iceland. Breiðafjöður bay is an area of majestic natural beauty, crammed full of incredible wildlife such as seals, puffins, and maybe even whales! It is the perfect way to relax while gliding across vivid blue oceans surrounded by some truly remarkable wildlife. So don’t delay booking yourself a spot kayaking at Breiðafjöður bay for an experience that will stay with you for a long time!

Your tour will start with a safety briefing from one of our certified experts: during that, they will make sure that you have all the correct equipment and that you know how to use it. We like to maintain small intimate groups, making it perfect for both beginners and experts alike. In fact, there is no need for prior experience as our friendly certified guides will help novices quickly find their feet.

We will begin at Stykkishólmur village’s harbor, now a famous landmark due to its starring role in the Hollywood film ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’. From Stykkishólmur, we will travel down the coastline: with majestic basalt cliffs to one side and the open ocean to the other, all the while dodging the beautiful islands which are dotted around the stunning blue seascape. Breiðafjöður bay is famed for its exquisite wildlife offerings and you are sure to see some of the most magnificent animals in the world. From massive whales to graceful seals and many more in between, Breiðafjöður bay is the perfect spot for nature lovers. The gifts available at Breiðafjöður bay don’t stop there and towards the end of our journey, we will see even more rocky islands and a charmingly cute lighthouse.

Breiðafjöður bay is easily accessible from Reykjavik (just 111.07 km) and will provide a wonderful contrast to the capital. So book our kayaking tour today and see a side of Iceland that will stay with you for the rest of your life!

Please remember:

The waters around Iceland are cold and we recommend that you dress up warm! Make sure you bring suitably insulated clothing and a change of clothes in case yours get wet.

We recommend a waterproof camera when going on a kayaking tour. However, we do not recommend you to take too much with you on the kayaking tour as there is really no need for it.

You don’t need to be able ‘’swim’’ while kayaking, although we recommend that you can. People that can’t swim tend to panic when they are in the water. You must be comfortable with floating in the water.
