99.5% sighting success rate - Welcome to the whale-watching capital of Iceland!
We will start from the wonderful mountain town of Dalvik: rimmed by some of the steepest and most beautiful mountains in all of Iceland. Dalvik harbor lies on the picturesque Eyjafjörður fjord, where we will begin our whale-watching adventure. We will see some incredible scenery throughout this tour, although the wildlife probably trumps it on offer!
Once we leave the harbor, we will speed off in the direction where we are most likely to see whales, so our direction will vary depending on the season. Our search might take us towards Akureyri, closer to Hrísey, or almost to the island of Grímsey on the Arctic Circle. We always take the option that local wisdom suggests has the best chance of seeing whales. Whichever way we decide to go, you will see some magnificent scenery and incredible bird species.
Then, we will find the whales (well, 99% of the time): seeing these majestic kings of the sea is truly awe-inspiring and something that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
The most common sighting is the powerful humpback, although fortunate boats sometimes see the most giant animal to have ever lived: the Blue Whale. Getting close to these creatures is an experience everyone should have on their Icelandic visit: don’t hesitate to book our whale watching tour today!
