Mother Nature is having a party, and you're invited! Join your guides and experience the exciting hunt for the Northern Lights. You will be driven to several viewing locations, find clear sky so you can capture that perfect photo of the Aurora Borealis.
This private Aurora Hunting tour is a nice little twist on the "classic" Aurora Tours and can be quite an exciting adventure. Aurora Hunting is definitely the more private approach and a true Yukon wilderness experience.
The Aurora Hunt starts at the hotel in Whitehorse, where you'll board our Aurora van. Then you head to various viewpoints. Your guide will have checked the weather forecast and determines where to go; where the skies are clear, etc. Once you've arrived at a good spot, the guide will start a campfire (depends on season), so you can roast some marshmallows and have a hot chocolate under the Northern Lights.
This is a true wilderness experience, so you won't be at a heated site, and guests should be aware that they need to dress appropriately. The van will be there to warm up in, but it can only heat up that much in -40C. You also will not have access to proper washrooms, but we will make sure to stop at outhouses where possible. This is a true adventure after all. Avoid the crowds. The Hunt Is On!

Aurora is a natural phenomenon. Due to weather conditions (clouds) and/or activity level of the Aurora, there is always a chance it will not be visible.
Moon or no moon?
There are many rumors about moon light affecting your chances to see the Northern Lights. Some say you can't even see the Northern Lights if there is a moon. Don't worry, that's not true at all. Moon light has no negative effect on sightings. When there is a moon, it will give a beautiful light on the mountains and forests. This creates a magnificent foreground lightning.
On new moon nights you will experience extreme darkness and after adjusting your eyes to the darkness and if the sky is clear, you will see millions of stars, galaxies and even some planets. No matter if you decide to be our guest on nights with or without moon light, seeing a good Northern Lights show is always spectacular!
