Yukon Northern Lights Viewing | CA-FA603

Seeing the Northern Lights in Canada is a mind blowing and memorable experience. It’s like Canada Day fireworks, mixed with a sunset, a shooting star and a magic show all at the same time!

  • Small-group experience
  • Northern lights hunting
  • Daily guided snowshoe/hiking tours
  • Yukon wildlife preserve tour
  • Whitehorse
  • Bonfire

Imagine enjoying a bonfire on the shore of a peaceful frozen lake, when someone gasps and points to the sky. As you look up you see a rushing, swirling light dancing across the sky right above you bathing you in a bright green glow. It sways back and forth, changing colours and shape, sometimes flat and suddenly reaching into space. Seeing the Northern Lights is not something you could get used to. The lights are never the same and every night nature puts on a completely different and spectacular light show for us. We like to think that we’ve created the ultimate Northern Lights viewing experience in Canada! Our motto is escape the crowds and do something unique, so each night we pick you up and head out for a different Aurora Borealis viewing experience. Could be a light snowshoe, walking on a frozen lake, or hanging out by a toasty bonfire.

Tour information

We plan all our Northern Lights dates around the optimal moon and weather cycles, as well as times of year that are most likely to see the Aurora Borealis. The dates you see are the optimal times to see the Northern Lights!

Fly into Whitehorse and check int to your luxury hip hotel for the next few nights. (We pick you up from the airport or help arrange an airport shuttle for you). We do an orientation at your hotel, and give you any rental winter gear and help you sign up for any optional activities that you may choose to do. After you've had some time to eat, relax and walk around town we come by around 10 pm and head out for our first northern lights viewing excursion. We head out of town to a beautiful local spot where the lights will be most visible. Enjoy a warm bonfire under the stars until the Aurora Borealis comes out to dazzle us with a lightshow!

Sleep in a bit in your luxurious bed after a big night of Northern Lights viewing and enjoy a hearty breakfast in the hotel or at a cafe in town. Around noon we will come by and pick you up for a guided snowshoeing adventure followed by a guided tour in the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, where you can get up close to some of the most amazing animals that can be found in the Yukon. Once we get back to town you have some freetime to have dinner and explore, or your guide may arrange a group dinner reservation if you would like to socialize with new friends from your group. In the evening you guide will pick you up around 10 pm for another spectacular night under the northern lights in Yukon.

Relax in your hotel during the morning before your guide comes to pick you up for a tour of the town of Whitehorse and another fun snowshoeing excursion. The guided snowshoe outing is optional today, because you may have a flight booked earlier in the day if you are on the 3 day package. Flights often depart around 5 pm from Whitehorse, and if you are booked on one of these flights we can have you back at the airport in time for your flight. You also have the option to book an additional activity today, such as a guided snowmobile tour or a dog sledding adventure. After some freetime in town and dinner, your guide will come and pick you up for another Aurora Borealis experience. We always change it up, so you can see different scenery each night. One thing is consistent.. we always ahve a bonfire, warm drinks and a shelter for you to warm up in. Sometimes your guide will plan a walk over a frozen lake, or a short snowshoe under the lights, or just a relaxing group bonfire under the stars and lights!

Each additional day will be very similar to days 2 and 3. After a restful morning you will be able to head out exploring the gorgeous frozen lakes, snowshoe trails and attractions near Whitehorse during the day. You guide may plan a day trip to Carcross, which is the famous end point of the Chilkoot Trail, where the goldrush trail began over a century ago. There are also some amazing scenic snowshoe areas here. Each evening will be spent under the dazzling light show or the Northern Lights. The longer your package the more chances you have to see the lights and the more additional adventures you can squeeze in!
