Information

kicking horse river rafting group tour

Flowing through the stunning Yoho National Park, part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage Site, Kicking Horse is the first British Columbian river to be recognized as a Canadian Heritage River. The river begins at Wapta Lake and further upstream it is fed by Yoho River. It has received recognition for both its recreational and ecological merits.

Kicking Horse has three white water rafting areas: the upper canyon, a Class 3-4 whitewater; the middle canyon, a Class 2-4; and the lower canyon, a Class 3-4. During this tour, we will hit the middle canyon, one of the areas with the largest areas of whitewater. Your guide will give you all the necessary equipment and a safety briefing and then off we go. You'll want to hold on tight as you charge through Man Eater, Roller Coaster, and Shotgun Rapids!

After your rafting adventure is over you will go back to the base where you can browse through photos and videos of your tour taken by our professional guides. These are available for purchase so you can relive the fun later on. Our express tour is the quickest tour we offer, which makes it ideal for adventurers who want to schedule a little adrenaline into their day.

*If during your tour you don't want the fun to end, just let your guide know and you can add the lower canyon to your adventure. This option is only available for rafters 16 and older and on our 11:00 a.m tours.

No rafting experience is required for this tour, only a sense of adventure! Knowing how to swim is not required but is recommended. However, our guides will provide all the necessary safety knowledge on how to hold on to and stay in the raft and all participants will be wearing high float life jackets. Please inform your guide ahead of time if you are not a strong swimmer so they can position you correctly in the raft.

Maximum weight limit: Approximately 300 lbs (136 kg) due to safety reasons and the size of our gear.

Departure & Return Information:

Departure: Tours are offered at 11:00 a.m and 3:30 p.m. We depart from the Glacier Raft Company base, located right off of TransCanada Highway #1 in Golden, BC. We ask that you arrive at least 15-30 minutes prior to your trip to allow time for check-in and signing waivers. We do not delay departures for late arrivals.

*Note: We operate on Mountain Time (the same time as Calgary and Banff). If you are arriving from the west make sure you account for the 1-hour time difference.

Return: The 11:00 a.m tours will return back at our meeting base at 2:00 p.m and the 3:30 p.m tours will return at 6:15 p.m.
