This stunning oceanfront lodge operated by career marine biologists and educators is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the biodiversity of Canada’s Pacific coast and rainforests. The lodge is luxurious and historical and can accommodate guests of all ages with a wide range of physical abilities. The lodge is situated on a site with over 6,000 years of human occupancy which provides an unmatched location to learn about the cultural history of the region through Huu-ay-aht guides.
The lodge prides itself in providing a high-standard natural and cultural history experience combined with expertly guided activities including hiking, kayaking, and snorkeling. You can plan your stay for 3, 4, or 5 nights. The lodge is located in one of the former Huu-ay-aht villages called ʔuc̓uuʔa (pronounced “ootsuu-a”). This location is known for its astonishing views of the ocean.
Embark on guided boat excursions to discover hidden coves and remote islands, or join the interpretive beach and rainforest walks to immerse yourself in the region’s rich biodiversity. Take to the waters with sea kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, allowing you to connect intimately with the ocean. Snorkeling adventures provide opportunities to encounter the mesmerizing marine life beneath the waves. Delve into the local Indigenous cultural heritage with a guided tour of an ancient village site. This exceptional lodge consists of the main lodge and two private cabins. The main lodge has five bedrooms with private bathrooms, a comfortable great room steps from the ocean’s edge, a large dining room, a library, a kitchen with a secondary dining area, and a games room.
The lodge is accessible by air, road, and water. Transfers to and from the lodge are not included in the trip package, but the staff of the lodge can help with travel arrangements.

Morning: Breakfast and outdoor activities
For those who like to wake up early, the day starts with bird-watching or photography around the lodge area. A delicious breakfast will await you in the dining area once you're back. After breakfast, a morning excursion follows. The type of activity will depend on the current season, weather conditions, and wildlife. The usual activities include a beach or intertidal zone walk, a hike through the rainforest, and a trip out on the zodiac boat.
Noon: Lunch and excursions to Bamfield and Pacific Rim National Park Reserve
Once you get back, you'll be served lunch. After lunch, you'll have one more excursion to Bamfield and Pacific Rim National Park Reserve to enjoy the nature and wildlife of the area.
The intensity of the excursions arranged each day is balanced, keeping one of the excursions light and the other one more challenging.
If you have a trip to Huu-ay-aht First Nations village and Kiix?in the village fortress site, you'll have lunch in this cultural area.
Evening: Dinner and relaxing activities at the lodge
After you finish your day's activities, you'll have time to rest before dinner. Later you can go outside to watch the sunset from the lookout bluff, spend your evening in warmth next to a campfire, or stargaze. You can also have some alone time reading a book in a great room or spend the rest of the night in your room.
At certain times during the year, the lodge also has an educational presentation in the evenings held by an expert in a particular scientific field. Participation is optional.
During your stay at the lodge, you'll have the opportunity to experience something new and have a proper and well-deserved rest.
Deposit and Taxes
Pricing does not include: 5% GST.
A $250/person deposit is required to hold your reservation.
Balance of payment is due 90 days before trip commencement.

Anytime after confirmation: $250/person, 90-61 days prior to arrival: 25% of payment, 60-31 days prior to arrival: 50% of payment, 30-0 days prior to arrival: 100% of payment.
