Winter medicine walk in the boreal forest of the Canadian Rocky Mountains


Join a group on a winter walk with a knowledgeable aboriginal guide who will reveal the secrets of winter medicine from a Cree lineage. Many believe plant medicine is found only in the summer, but your guide will share the fascinating historical medicines of the boreal forest of Banff National Park in winter found in abundance. 

The guide lays tobacco and offers a small prayer, then you walk into the winter landscape of the Canadian Boreal Forest to explore the knowledge of indigenous peoples from the land. All necessary footwear such as snowshoes or icers will be supplied if required.

Professional certified interpretive aboriginal guides have many years of experience in guiding in the Rocky Mountains and are happy to share their knowledge and traditions with you.

RESTRICTIONS

Physical Ability – The tour is rated as easy with a relaxed walking pace and plenty of stopping to explore plants.

Elevation Gain – The elevation is negligible depending on the location for the walk, the distance is approximately 2.5 – 3 km (.9 - 1.9 miles).

Terrain – The terrain is generally easy and on snowshoes few obstacles.

TRANSPORTATION

Tours begin and end in the town of Banff, Alberta. Starting point is at Johnson Lake in Banff National Park. Directions will be supplied upon booking.

CANCELLATION POLICY & DETAILS
The cancellation policy is 2 weeks via email, if you cancel after that 2 week period you will have to pay the $50 admin fee.
