It is a wilderness enthusiasts’ dream with plenty to do and see, in both summer and winter. With over 60 km of groomed, wilderness trails inside Algonquin Park, an EcoLodge is a great place for hiking, nature walks, wildflower exploration and birding, canoeing, and mountain biking.

Algonquin Park is a world famous wilderness park only 3 hours north of Toronto. Its’ area covers fully 1/10th the size of Scotland or Ireland! Algonquin boasts 7,725 square kilometers, with over 2,000 freshwater lakes. Within its borders can be found deer, moose, beaver, wolves, bears, and many other wild animals, all in their natural habitats and, for the most part, untouched by Man.

The EcoLodge is ideal for those wanting to experience the Canadian wilderness without having to “rough it”. It is designed to give you the best wilderness experience possible while minimizing our impact on the environment. In fact, your experience begins with a leisurely 2.3 km walk or cycle through Algonquin Park to reach our front doors. Don’t worry – your luggage can be transferred for you if you choose!

Information

Our EcoLodge is beautifully secluded amidst remote Algonquin forests, where even hydro lines and telephone poles can’t reach. And yet, with a combination of alternative energy sources, the EcoLodge still provides all the finer comforts, such as indoor plumbing, double occupancy rooms, battery-powered hot showers, and even a wood-fired sauna! It is the perfect place to spend three or four days while experiencing “real” Canadian wilderness adventures.

This multi-activity package is a great way to explore the region of Algonquin Park. It is a combination of guided hikes, guided canoe trips, as well as free time and socializing with other travelers around the bonfire.

Guide information:

Guided canoeing and hiking tours are included as outlined in the itinerary.

Also included is the use of hiking trails, canoes, and paddle boats. You can bring along your own fishing gear for some great lake fishing. Or bring along your mountain bike for backcountry cycling.

Additional guided activities that can be added to the package include horseback riding and visits to the local towns and museums.

Transportation: The lodge is located approximately a 3-hour drive north of Toronto. Pick up and drop off in downtown Toronto may be arranged for groups for an additional cost.

Weather: Summer temperatures will average from 10 C to 25 C. Summers are usually warm and dry and in the fall there is a burst of autumn colors to enjoy.

Meals & Dining: All meals from dinner on the first day to breakfast on the last day are included and prepared fresh each day.

This Eco-lodge was created to give you the best wilderness experience possible while minimizing our impact on the environment. It has the feel and atmosphere of a European mountain lodge and is one of the most secluded lodges or hotels in Algonquin Park. In fact, your experience begins with a leisurely 2.3 km walk, or cycle, or ski (about 25 minutes) through Algonquin Park to reach our front doors. Don’t worry – your luggage can be transferred for you (optional).

The Eco-Lodge is beautifully secluded amidst remote Algonquin Park forests, where even hydro lines and telephone poles can’t reach. We are completely off-grid and yet, with the alternative energy we create from our waterfall (we use 100% micro-hydro electricity), the Eco-Lodge still provides all the finer comforts.

Things such as indoor plumbing, hot showers, an outdoor wood-fired sauna, and even a carbon neutral hot tub (the only one in southern Ontario) heated by electricity from our own waterfall! And with 17 private bedrooms, there is more than enough space to comfortably hold 34 people. If you are looking for a “Digital Detox” vacation, then the Eco-Lodge is the place for you! Since we are so far in the Algonquin Park forest that there are no phone lines, no internet service, and even cell phones don’t work you are guaranteed that “work” can’t get hold of you. You have no excuse now but to enjoy the company of your family and friends, play a board game with your spouse, or join the other guests toasting marshmallows around the campfire
